Siege Boxes - disappointing?

By Thornoo1, in Runewars Miniatures Game

From a card upgrade perspective was anyone else disappointed that we didn't get a third new card?

We already knew that the support and frontline unit upgrades were coming but I would have liked to see something only Rune Goleme and Carrion Lancers could use.

Front line Carrion lancer is really the only interesting thing between them.

personally I can't wait to get mine tomorrow and finally have moment of inspiration and fire rune.

Well yes there are some up points. Wind rune reanimate archers here I come.

Yes as I think Rune Golems need something to make them more durable.

I'm not that impressed with that one since the chance of rolling a surge on a red dice are 1/8, and there must also actually be a blight on the target which is certainaly not always true.

well, without it a surge on reanimates is useless, with this upgrade it kills things, and against cavalry mortal strikes are very nasty...and since cavalry are from my experience what usually my reanimates are dying to I will take an MS when I can get them, and if your enemies don't have blights you need more blight batteries!

I'm only running the one Rune Golem in any list. Probably embedded in a unit of Spearmen. Really fun model to paint, however. There will be without doubt more goodness to come later this year and next. I'll have to exercise some patience.

I'm incapable of doing the math :P but my gut feeling is that Moment of inspiration (which has the same cost) will kill more Cavalry (and Spearmen) over time. For example; the Reanimates in this case would be a 6-9 tray unit with 3 threat, and the white die has 2/3 of a chance to score a hit and 1/12 for a MS. And maybe the probability of the target having a blight is ~ to the Reanimates having inspiration to reload the MOI.

Another option I would prefer to the FLCL though costing more, is equipping the Reanimates with Fallen Hero and Reaping blade which will give a chance of 2/8 per dice to score a MS without the requirement of blight.

And if you want to spend even more to be certain of killing Cavalry, why not go with Fallen Hero + Fortuna's Dice. In a 6-9 tray unit that will pretty much guarantee 6 damage which is 3 Oathsworn. In a 12 tray block it will be another 1 threat (totaling 2 trays of Oathsworn killed).

all of your examples could still take the FLCL

Oh, I really like this because you could either switch a red die to a surge face, or if you already have that, switch the white die to the accuracy+hit face to deal a wound to an upgrade figure. Reanimates usually don't get that luxury.

Well im pleased to get 2 wind runes in my golem box as i thought it was only 1.

Not sure if im going to bother with support golem. Stunning people im engaged with sounds like a list-counter strat since it messes up necromancers.

Blighted Vexillum Bearer

Front Line Carrion Lancer

File Leader

Give it a shot. It murders Cav and Golems

I really want those wind runes for cav and golem shift-nanigans. 3*2 cav (hawthorne build) shifting around... You'll shift your pants.

All good choices, I might give them a go.

But FLCL looks cool. Also Ardus can tap its surge ability of nearby.

I don't want this game to have huge binders worth of upgrade cards.

I want way too many copies of all my options.

Trust me. In x-wing despite owning nearly everything I have only have two autothruster cards when I want four. If they throw a bunch of exclusive upgrades into packs with this game and the same problem will exist.

I am pretty excited to try a large unit of rune gollums. Larger units will offset the variance typical of single units.

Failed post.
