Kari's ability states one Elven ally unit. Is a hero a "hero unit" or a unit? Would this be legal? Combining the two would be pretty sweet in a
200 point game.

It's specifically a non unique infantry unit so... no heroes, no cavalry, no siege.
The upgrades available to the allied unit will be Daqan upgrades, not Latari, so you can't slip in a Latari hero as a figure upgrade, either.

This made me think hmm add Kari to archers get an extra blue... but nope, that is melee only. Maybe we'll get a ranged hero in the future too (as in focused specifically on ranged, not just able to do both). Maro would be closer to one I gues.s

Kari's ability to take a Latari unit is only on her unit card, not her upgrade card; you can't add her to the Latari unit she brings in.

Of course, good catch. Been too long since I've gotten to play, everyone disappeared for summer.
