Not so much a squad but a ship combination

Weapons guidance and Recon Specialist. The only ship that can take this combination is the Upsilon class Shuttle. It is more accurate than a target lock and focus. How do you make it work on a ship that is difficult to keep engaged?

It can be more accurate. It depends on the initial dice roll. So, lets say you're attacking with the shuttle at range 2 and roll average. 2 hits, 1 focus, 1 blank. weapons guidance turns the blank to a hit and the spending the focus for 4 hits. But TL re-rolls that blank for a 75% chance of paint.

However, if you have 2 blanks or more on your first roll, weapons guidance will only change 1 blank, but a TL will re-roll as many dice as you want.

the thing is, the shuttle can put on FCS to give a TL anyway. And it's less points than guidance/recon.

True but this would open up the system slot for other great system options and it does not require me to shoot them initially. There are instances where target lock focus is better but on average this will hit harder making it better overall.

Put it on a firespray with extra munitions and deadeye. Slow roll to a k turn followed by a 1 forward and they be dead. :)

Firespray can't tech the tech upgrade.

Nor Deadeye.

Its slightly less accurate than TL+Focus, but you can fire on anyone in front of you. Ive tried it a couple times, and its great for that first shot where normally you have to setup FCS. Use Baffle or Pattern Analyzer with it though, so you can do it whether to stop or whatever. Another trick is take Quickdraw or Backdraft with Wingman EPT. Then you can stop, PA the double focus, and wingman EPT erases the stress to do it again. The SFs have those 1 forwards and you can get 2 or 3 stop maneuvers in there or a couple 1 hard turns. Ive used wingman with a raging Upsilon with Inspired recruit and its worked pretty good in casual matches.

You are right. when running the numbers, I forgot to switch it to 4 dice rather than 3. this combo is one of the reasons I like rage in that I can take the target in front of me rather than have my opponents arc dodge or countermeasures or black one title my reroll away.
