Rune Golem attack modifier

By DivisibleByZero, in Runewars Rules Questions

They just posted the article for the Rune Golems expansion. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/7/13/stone-sentries/

In the article they once again say something about the attack modifier adding a rune:

" This is complemented by the golem’s command tool modifier that allows them to add one stable energy when participating in a skill or melee attack."

Did they make this mistake again or is this really what the modifier is supposed to do?

That's an error, the symbol is defense and the modifier is stable runes. So defense + of stable runes.

Yeah that's what I always assumed. It just seems odd that both preview articles screwed up the same thing. :D

It's probably a copy/paste from the last article.

To be fair, if it was that way i think our opinions of the rune golem being mostly "meh" would shift to "HOLY CRAP"
Brutal3 ftw lol

Well... if we stretch the lines a bit, having the rune visible on the table does mean there are technically 3 stable runes on the table now. I seriously doubt that's how it works, but if it does I'll enjoy the extra trays maro will be adding lol.

That you'll buy with points using his Army building option? He can't add extra trays with his necromancy unfortunately, they aren't infantry.

@Jukey is talking about visible runes counting as active runes not about adding trays to rune golems.

Yes, so Golems bought through Maro's army builder ability.

No, the article (incorrectly) says that the modifier on the Rune Golem dial *increases* the number of Stable Runes that other abilities reference. He was saying that he will gladly allow his Daqan opponent to treat it that way so he can use his Maro to bring in 3 trays of infantry for his Archers or reanimates. Maro adds trays equal to (well up to) Stable Runes.

Ahh, thought he meant visible on their command dial for their action. If it counted all the icons across all the unit dials as well Maro might end up one shotting himself if he ever used the ability :)

Unless you embed maro in reanimates!

why yes, I'd like 5 trays of reanimates to go please.

but I'm pretty sure it's all just wishful thinking and misworded articles.

Yeah, our group had some discussion on that. Some said by "this unit" that the Maro upgrade should take the wounds directly. Which means he could only add 3 trays before he does, which isn't that great of a point gain vs his cost.

You always suffer wounds to the rear-most rank of the unit, unless there's accuracy somewhere in the equation.

figure upgrades are figures in a unit, not units in a unit. Figure upgrades are placed in the front trays.

The whole purpose of embedding maro is so he can sacrifice regenerating figures to add trays to other units.
