Letting your opponent choose makes it considerably weaker. They choose what hurts them or benefits you the least so you can't exactly plan on getting the honor or fate when you need it. While it will certainly be a decent card for anyone looking to pursue honor/dishonor, the 3 influence eats up a lot of space for other actions that could be more impactful in conflicts. It does at least help your economy or give you extra honor to use for more cards. Overall it's still pretty good.

It's the kind of card you have to set up to force the "right" choice from your opponent.

Another interesting thing about this card is that sometimes the Lion can't afford to pay the honor, as htey might lose guys

If you want to go the route of a Lion tactician, sure. Or you could try to go the Scorpion route and set things up so that you benefit no matter what choice the opponent makes.

The comma after "opponent" bothers me. I'd have gone with a period and let it be two sentences.

Well, I'm taking it as an indicator for the upcoming multiplayer rules that will hopefully be included soon.

The choice will be honor 99% of the time. It is not an amazing card, but it is a good workhorse. If you have one, It basically lets you add safely 1 to your draw bid (or reduces the honor you lose for getting more cards by 1 if you draw it). If they ever give you fate, then all the better.

Still looks vapid, not smug.

It definitely plays into a dishonor pressure deck. Whether this will be a powerful way to play Crab in a core only card pool is yet to be seen. They've got several pieces that play into it. Also we've yet to see what tools we can import from say the Scorpion clan. I agree if your opponent is already swimming in honor they'll just take the -1 honor and think little of it. I hope the majority of the dishonor Crab cards are Yasuki themed (like this one). It would be awesome to build a straight up Yasuki themed dishonor deck.

Are you sure you've seen cows before?

I still want my Kitsuki dishonor deck. But you are right Yasuki dishonor would be awesome.

Scorpion Dishonor "We Caught him with Lowborn Hookers!" (which we provided)

Kitsuki Dishonor "We can prove it was you!"

Yasuki Dishonor "How dare you spend money on hookers when the wall needs more funding!"

If you gimme honor it's just gonna help fund my Assassinations of your characters anyway. #CrabRemoval

Add "plus our hookers are better....and cheaper"

I'm going to start my own Wall, with blackjack and hookers.

Hmm...blackjack and hookers to distract the Shadowlands, then? *pictures the bordello filled with Ogre hookers* I...think I'll pass

I was reading Shiva 3000, a sci-fi? book set in India, where cows are divine and get to wander around wherever they feel like and get cared for by everyone, to the point that there are cow retirement homes.

In one of the Shadowlands books, there are a set of Crab clan codewords. Two of the memorable ones are:

Tsuta: the place was staffed with shadowlands shapeshifters in disguise. Those who knew the real meaning quietly grabbed their weapons and met together in the entrance to begin the fight.

Yasha!: as above, but the minions of Fu Leng were already aware they had been exposed, so the cry was to fight their way out.

Can't you just wait until they are out of fate? I assume that happens semi-regularly.

Neat card, although I'm not sure how useful it really is.

As an aside, has anyone noticed that the honor losses are almost always a choice? Watch Commander, Intimidating Hida, and this card all give your opponent control over whether or not they lose honor. Seems like a conscious design choice to me.

One of the best uses is that you can trim down your deck to be the most efficient. Sometimes you find a combo that would work better if you could simply have a smaller deck, so you can more reliably access the correct components. I don't know if Crab has such a combo now, but cards that simply replace themselves without cost (this card lets you gain honor so you can more safely over-bid to draw) can be very useful for combo decks.

The card is only good if you can threaten honor loss. If you just play this out of the blue, with no other honor loss cards, even the Lion would give you 1 honor and not care.

I didn't realise until reading this thread that when the card says 'give you' that it does actually mean they outright take from their pile and add to yours. On first read I thought you basically just gained +1. This card is way better than I thought. It's the dishonor half of Ring of Air, with the option for them to give you money when they're on about 3 honor and can't really be dealing with the losses any more.

If there is a couple of two influence Scorpion cards that can dishonor people or cause honor loss, Crab Dishonor could well be my jam lol

I can't believe I never thought of that. This card just jumped up a few levels of effectiveness.

So...after seeing a neutral event that honors or dishonors a character, a neutral event that brings in a character for 1 fate and an event that sends home a lower military character for 1 fate...Levy looks considerably lower in power level XD

No joke, those new neutrals are throwing all my playtesting out the window. Rout and Charge seem awesome for Crab; Charge + Reprieve gets any character out for 2 turns for only 2 fate!

Charge makes any big military guy playable. Also can bring in a spirit caller. Real game changer.

A card Lion will exploit like a boss.
