What is the Dooming?

By Jdidgital, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I keep reading references to this newest edition of WFRP not having Dooming for characters. As I'm a newbie to the Warhammer world, I was wondering if someone could tell me what this is?

As well, does anyone have any ideas about how to add this to 3rd Edition?

The dooming is a bit of background fluff where basically the local wise woman foretells the moment of someones death. Don't have books with me, but think it either occurs at birth or upon adulthood.

In the 2nd ed book there was a table to roll on to get the wise woman prediction, and this table was expanded upon in Tome of Salvation I think. The actual dooming had no actual effect on game play, unless the GM made it so and the predictions were all of a very cryptic nature.

Its easy enough to use in V3 if you got a copy of one of the random tables, or just make a suitably cryptic fore warning up and use that.

Most people get a dooming on their tenth birthday (at least in second edition) and the chart to roll on is great,i don't have tome of salvation but i have the character pack version. some wacky stuff like "Linger not upon the privy, nay, nor long drop neither" or "thy end will be a sticky one". i don't know much else about it; i never had the chance to play first edition. i will look through what i have and see if i can find anything else. i think it does add some fun flavor.

There's an extensive list of Doomings in the "Expanded PC Module" available from Winds of Chaos:

The booklet is designed for V2, but much of it could be applied with V3 without any difficulty. You'll need some ten-sided dice.

that is awesome. i love the character generator and the ribbons you made made we want to learn latin (for about thirty seconds, i am learning too many other languages right now).
