The Hedgehog

By Norell, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm thinking about this for a while. Instead of maximizing the output of one arc, why not make every arc formidable. This gave me the idea for something I call Ackbar's Hedgehog

The basic idea is that the Liberty can steadily fire 5-6 red dice from three of its arcs instead of only one. Leading shots is there for rerolls and the Liberty has something that H1 doesn't: a weapons team slot. Hello gunnery team! :) The MC30 and the HH are there to harass the other ships while Toryn can help out both the Biggsball and the Liberty if necessary.

Pros:

- Mon Karren is a monster from red range

- Still has Admonition

- Nice flexible fighter wing

Cons:

- No Madine or ET, the Liberty is sometimes in trouble without navigating.

- Hammerhead doesn't have real synergy with the rest of the fleet (still effective in picking up half dead ships)

- Can't activate the whole fighter wing at once

Well, I think with Madine, the liberty has enough turning power to always have the front arc pointed at something. Ackbar isn't necessarily needed. Though It is a good Idea to have a rounded out arc ship.

You're far better off looking to double down on strengths than you are attempting to turn weaknesses into mediocrity. So I've seen a few proposals over time that have looked to pair Ackbar with a Liberty for the reasons listed here, but that's just putting points one way or another into doing something relatively mediocre. What you want is to double down on big arcs with Ackbar, or to find a way to keep that big front arc of the Liberty on target with Madine. Either of those double down on a strength. From there, you learn to fly the list to maximize the strength.

Duh... I know how to fly a Liberty with Madine. The whole point is to try something different... I admit thst this fleet isn't grewt yet but I think it could be turned into sonething useful...

you could add a normal mc80 to make ackbar more important but this is a really cool idea
