One of my goals this wave is to try and get Deathfire and Deathrain in the same list to some degree of a threat.
Will have to report my games. Got a feeling the third ship will be doing most of the work but the bomb threat might be much more valuable than on paper.
Deathrain gave me a rather unforgettable experience at the Bstrat storechampionship of March 06 2016 (holy **** I'm old!)
no one thought this ship was any good even when it was spoiled, but here this guy was just mulching through palp aces and brobots and rebel regen that polluted every game with the help of Omega Leader and Vader





Deathrain is one of my favorite pilots ever and I wish he were cheaper/more durable so I could use him more ![]()
Punishers definitely have their moments!
My next epic list is going to be a minefield mapper bonanza with Punishers and TLT Aggressors. I can't wait to surprise my brother (who doesn't keep up with the latest. . .bwoohaha!!)
I'm in the club. Took 3rd place with 2 punishers and a Palp list. Also fly punishers on a regular basis.

Wow, 2 Punishers in tournament and 3rd! Congratulations.
I won an Xwing Mariokart game with a PS2 punisher, with vectored thrusters and Electronic baffles.
Had a bit of trouble on the straightaways, but can corner as good as anyone and ignores ions, stress, and most damage.

I tried a game with both the other night. It didn't go so well. I went:
D-Fire, Conner, EM, Cruise Missiles, LRS
D-Rain, Bomblet, AS, AT
Mauler Mithel, Snapshot, MKII
Scourge, Snapshot, MKII
My thought was since I was trying to get range1 for bomb shenanigans if run some SnapShotters as well. But they all got in the way of each other, it didn't work. Probably better off with 1 higher cost Ace instead of the TIE Fighter escorts
My idea is:
DRain: Unguided, Bomblet, AdvSensor, LWF
DFire: Unguided, Conner, EM, LWF
Backdraft: VI, Cruise Missile, FCS, LWF, Title, PA

Backdraft's usually not following through in the joust so he makes sense as the third. Cruise missiles on SFs feel like a "round two" attack, since FCS gets the TL early and when they rebound to come back theyre usually so far away theyre doing high speeds anyway. Bombs of course can deter people chasing him early on, which is when hes most vulnerable.
Deathrain's constant bomb + broll will be the main distraction, i only have unguided on there since 2pts and unless i wanted to pre-move boost its better than a 2die attack.
I beat Tom Reeds triple jumps with Redline after I parked Whisper on a rock and he blew up. True story.

I like that. If I try it again, I might see how a tricked out Vader does with the Death Duo
I want to fly the Punisher more... and dusting off it's box right now. I've only ever flown Redline with Fire Control System when Cluster Missiles worked differently and before Guidance Chips.
So what system should we put on Punishers?
Advanced Sensors seems pretty cool for action bombs. Very flexible for bomb deployment.
Does anyone run a bombing Punisher with Accuracy Corrector?
Does Sensor Jammer make the Punisher much more durable considering the high price tag?
Minefield Mapper - on a generic? Seems to waste Deathrains ability.
FCS seems like the auto include for ordnance builds but does Redline really need it?
Enhanced Scopes... free but is dropping your bombs first with no option actually that useful?
Collision Detector could be useful especially for Deathrain.
Adv Sensors kinda goes hand in hand if you want bombs, even the bomblet generator as it lets you be much more flexible with it than normal.
If youre not going for bombs (wtf you doing?) FCS is probably still the way to go since it lets them compound ordnance w/o needing a followup action. Tbh i havnt really tried them as a standard ordnance boat with LWF to improve durability yet.

Unguided rockets keep systems slot free for col detector
Not competitive but hilariously maneuverable

I'm not even good with ships that are actually good, so I definitely can't speak to effectively using the the Punisher, but I do love the hell out of the ship and would consider myself a member of the fan club. I own 4 of them and wouldn't be opposed to more.

Yep! I shocked everyone when I showed up with it. could have had first, but lost the game when I decided to 1 bank and drop a prox mine instead of 1 forward. Fenn turned hard and avoided the bomb and hurt me bad. then when I tried to Tractor him with my palp shuttle, using palp I got 3 hits, but he rolled 3 natural evades. He was down to 2 health, I could have killed him. Also in the same game which was I choose to shoot dengar in the front with my other punisher forgetting he could shoot back even if he was dead. I should have just not shot him and 3 hard drop a prox mine on him next turn.
Even so, I lost that game by 17 points, only his Syck was left. That lost keep me from the final. Also that list gets better when Guided comes out. I will still be using it

This are my typical Punisher loadouts:
REDLINE
TIE Punisher: ยท "Redline" (27)
Extra Munitions (2)
Homing Missiles (5)
Adv. Homing Missiles (3)
Collision Detector (0)
Guidance Chips (0)
Switch ordinance as required. I mostly dont use FCS because of the ordinance this build carries.
Because when Redline is in optimal range to target, range 3 that is, you want to stay there as long as possible, so no boost.
Redline also acquires two TLs, so with GC you can skip focus. The only possible action left is TL. So lock those targets in and shout "Fox 2, Fox 2!"
Next turn you might have both locks left, since (A)HM dont need to spend TL and maybe you didnt need that reroll.
Next turn you most likely will have at least one TL left after you previously did a reroll. Now focus if target is still in range, or boost or k-turn to reposition. This time its: "Fox 1 away!
I realy enjoy this build. Redline is escorted by two high PS Interceptors. To bad Redline doesnt come with an EPT and proper title.

first time posting and joined specifically because i need to be part of this. The punisher will always be a favorite ship of mine!!!!
Love me some punisher. Unfortunately my most memorable punisher moment was when I slaughtered a redline without taking more than a shield of damage, and then going on to lose to a Ryad + Palp shuttle (pre nerf). Was probably one of the most frustrating games of my career considering I felt I flew it as perfectly as I could and still lost to essentially a 60 something point list.
as for the punisher, am I the only one that thinks acc corrector, bomblet, and LWF is the way to go on them? I think if they had a bit better dial, you could actually do something with a build like that.

I am experimenting with 33 point-ish Redline builds at the moment (operating under the assumption that he just isn't durable enough) and he does fit into 2 SFs. They might be carrying hard, though.
