Recently played a game of epic with it and knew the blue line wasnt on the tile but didn't care.
Until we went to move it... where do you put the movement template???

For straights, line a line up against an edge. The important thing is that you move N forward in a straight line, not which part of the base you measured from.
You're not supposed to use the blue line for movement anyway.
The rulebook says to use the back edge of the front base.

There were several "how to play" videos on YouTube that erroneously showed using the blue line as the baseline for movement.

I believe early rules references this at one point, though I've not actually played a game of Epic to know if I'm actually recalling this correctly.

It's possible. I came late to the game, 2015, so the info included with the huge ships I've got could've been updated.

They've changed quite a bit. We're talking about doing our first Epic event (at least in recent memory) in August, so I decided to actually take another look at the rules, and a fair number of things have been significantly changed from what I originally read way back when.

You will love epic! We did one awhile back with 600 points per side and three man teams. Be prepared for a long day. We used a dry erase board to keep track of movement and attack order. That sped up the bookkeeping quite a bit.
The forces were set up sort of based on a carrier strike force with one guy commanding the capital ships, one the fighter group and the third running the attack squadron. 300 points of capital ships with their fighter escort and 150 points each of fighters and bombers.
Epic makes for a huge departure from the standard 100/6 game and is a welcome change. You should really enjoy it!
I suspect I'd prefer trying to get Armada on the table, but X-Wing is the game of choice here, to I'll at least try it out and get some use out of my Epic ships. We'll be doing a more standard format, either 300 pt 1v1 or 200pt (each) 2v2, but I think I'll enjoy the change of pace...
... Even if it's slowing said pace wayyyy down.
