Dawn of Rebellion Sourcebook

I know :-) But on reflection I don't think it's a good product model. There's too many books to look through to find an item of equipment, ship or game rule in. I'd rather see fewer, more comprehensive books that cover multiple careers.

Oh well - can't change it now.

I agree. All one has to look at is the D&D 3.5/Patherfinder product line and compare it to the D&D 5e product line. Pathfinder has approx. 8x the number of splat/region/career books than D&D5e however, D&D 5e is the more successful product line (general public opinion).

For me, the biggest concern with having so much material, is that it can force members of our community to feel that they have to get everything in order to GM/play the game effectively. Leading to BiS conversations (which I admittedly participate in) becoming more prevalent than then they should be.

With so many resources players and especially new comers can feel over whelmed and confused. Not to mention extremely expensive.

Well, by the contortions of logic being presented, you're probably right. But, the Amazing Spider-Man issue hit stands months before Secret Wars #8.

Yeah. That's almost as bad as turning an entire planet into a star-eating, planet-busting superweapon.

Or having a moon-sized, planet-destroying laser cannon.

Okay man...you wanna mess with the space-time continuum; that's on you. I won't be party to it—if popular entertainment has taught me anything, it's that you don't mess with the space-time continuum.

Unless you're this guy.

Oh, a Doctor that has just learned to manipulate the space/time continuum?

How cute. . .

Interesting that they created a link to this product on all three of the main SWRPG pages rather than an entirely new generic section.

Glad to see that FFG is finally starting to make these.

How dare you guys be on topic when this thread has been completely derailed!

Since Universal Specs have been mentioned here and there:

Something like an Imperial Defector or a General Dissident would be interesting.

The former with some military and/or security talents that would benefit in infiltrating imperial protocol.

The latter maybe with some political/social talents and/or something that can cause or support urban unrest.

Maybe reveal how and when Hera & co arrived at Lothal?

Or General Disobedience?

Never forget Major Payne!

I'd like to see some trees for basic Military recruits....like a Basic Training Tree that leads to an eventual MOS (Career/Specialization).

Umm...isn't that just the Recruit tree? A Universal specialization with a fair number of skill talents that gives you the basics of what you need to be in an army? Or am I missing something?

Yes, Please!

All the community needs is MORE careers, trees, specs, talents, etc.

We are no where near the saturation mark.

Definitely all for a universal spec for some sort of defector/traitor/double agent.

It's possible they may reprint the Recruit tree, since it's normally only available if you buy the AoR core rulebook, and is a good way to give PCs some added combat ability if they're coming over from EotE or FaD, where a number of career/spec combos don't give a PC much (if anything) in the way of combat skills.

That wouldn't be bad at all. Or maybe a similar-but-different one for like "Rebel Operative" or something.

By this logic, this

is the first appearance of Venom.

so, what you guys are saying is that no matter which one is the first canon appearance of Venom, I have the first print of it at home in a box, protected by mylar and card?

super!

I'm still somewhat surprised how few AoR careers contain Stealth as a Career Skill, considering the whole "guerilla warfare" shtick that should be front and center for a rebellion trying to avoid geting buried in the boys in white.

It would be an issue if the Rebellion was centered around simply launching ambushes, but since most of what we actually see are people posing and going undercover, so Deception, and plenty have that.

Still, it is interesting that the Commando speaks about approaching targets undetected yet its skills don't include Stealth.

I think the Rebellion was founded on the Cameron Plan http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Cameron Plan

I don't think it's interesting, I think Commando sux. If I had a magic eraser I'd cross off Commando, change Trailblazer to Commando, and add a different spec called Sky Trooper that would focus on soldiers using jetpacks and speeder bikes. I do not have a magic eraser though....

Perhaps one thing that'll be discussed in this book is a section on running an Imperial-centric campaign. After all, this is the era where the Empire is pretty much at the height of it's power and doesn't really have a truly coordinated effort to oppose it, just a broad range of individual cells. Could also discuss the notion of running loyal Imperial Force users, be they low-ranking members of the Inquisitorious, agents of the Emperor (ala the Emperor's Hands of Legends) or simply Imperial "dark Jedi" that are called in for special cases requiring their particular skill set; Vader might have been the most obvious (and powerful) blunt instrument the Empire had, but that doesn't mean he was the only one that the Emperor had to call upon.

That's not a soldier, that's a pilot, and would completely flip the game balance away from non-starfighter Aces.

To be clear; I'd like to see a recruit tree that includes an option to get Pilot; Space and Astrogation as Class Skills and one for Mechanics and Computers.

I admit it, I just want more class-skills! 8D
