Im aware of the story input for prize support at L5R events but what other prizes do you think will be available to win or get through participation. at the GenCon events.

In the description of the Thur event it hints to clan specific participation prizes.

What does everyone think participation prizes and top cut prizes will be and/or should be?

I don't even want to speculate. It'll just make me more bitter that I can't participate.

I expect Clan Champion AA cards for the clan specific stuff.

You can probably expect a clan specific promo for your clan for participating. Best guesses are full bleed Stronghold or Champion. As for what you actually win, I don't know, what does FFG normally support for winning one of their tournaments? Probably some set of acrylic tokens, or something similar. Maybe a gift card to their store.

An ultra rare alt art card usually. Also the chance to design a card in the game for all the major tournaments like Worlds and Gencon. I wonder if instead of their standard "design a card" prize if we'll see a more story driven prize from this game. For making top cut we've seen rarer alt art cards, acrylic tokens, playmats... for participation we see common alt art cards, deck boxes stuff like that. Also even at the store champs level you usually get a plaque if you win the tournament.

As far as I know they've never supported a cash prize or anything close to that (like store credit) because they didn't want to encourage that sort of competition. I'm happy they made that decision. Once money is on the line people tend to behave differently. I can't get too upset if I play poorly and miss out on a card mat. Sure the mat is cool, but it's hardly that big a deal

My local stores would do store credit for Netrunner Tournaments, as well as the OP prize support. But it was rarely more than enough to buy a copy of the next data-pack.

My local store will usually give store credit as a participation incentive for things like OP kit nights and store champs, which was nice because it encouraged you to make purchases in the store. Also it offset the entry fee for the event.

I expect full art champions and strongholds. I also expect these to slowly be put out as part of GNK over months following release.
