Keyan Farlander as Dash's wingman

By General Kenobi's Chicken, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey, everyone: I've been playing against one opponent for about two years. We play casual but are a bit on the competitive side. He regularly puts together stress-giving lists and a few of my builds do alright against them. I've recently done well with Poe and Dash against his Asajj builds. I really like flying Dash and was wondering if there were any other viable wingmen. I also was wondering if anyone tables B-Wings with Dash, so I came up with this:

Dash Rendar (56)
YT-2400 Freighter (36),
Lone Wolf (2), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Rey (2), Outrider (5), Smuggling Compartment (0), Burnout Slam (1), Counter-Measures (3)

Keyan Farlander (44)
B-Wing (29), Fire-Control System (2), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Extra Munitions (2), Expert Handling (2), B-Wing/E2 (1), Gunner (5)

Any advice, tweaks, or statements of outrage are welcome!

That Dash build is a classic, though not one of my favs. However, that Keyan is TOO much. He's so squishy and will die WAY too fast to be worth the points you have there.

Good partners for Dash in my opinion include Nym, Miranda, Poe, Norra, etc

Any Lone Wolf build must be combined with squadmates that can hold their own. @Greebwahn named some of the good aces for the role. Some people fly two or more ships with Dash. I fly Dash + Ace because it's hard to fit two good Rebel ships in at a combined 40-45 points that can perform together at the same level as 1 Poe, Norra or Miranda. I'm looking forward to Dash + Nym. Dash + Corran has been a thing, but I don't touch it because reasons.

Farlander is one of my favorite Rebel pilots. I'll never fly him in a 2-ship list because he doesn't have enough defense. Farlander works best with a lean build and squadmates that take some heat off him. I'm not talking about Biggs either. My favorite Farlander builds are Farlander + Opportunist + Collision Detector and Farlander + Rage + E2 + Inspiring Recruit + Collision Detector. These are self-sufficient and cheap enough to fill the rest of the list with serious threats.

If your heart is set on Dash + Farlander, then try this:

Dash + 2" (99)

Dash Rendar (53) - YT-2400
Lone Wolf (2), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Rey (2), Outrider (5), Smuggling Compartment (0), Burnout SLAM (1)

Keyan Farlander (32) - B-Wing
Rage (1), Collision Detector (0), B-Wing/E2 (1), Inspiring Recruit (1)

Captain Rex (14) - TIE Fighter

Thanks for this feedback!

I will try those suggestions.

Dash Rendar (36)
Lone Wolf (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Rey (2)
Outrider (5)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Fire-Control System (2)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Fire-Control System (2)

this is my favorite Dash build these days. 2 B's w FCS are better than one named B IMO.

I really like that. I lose the slam and counter measures on Dash, though. I'll just have to fly him better.

Dash and Miranda is the gold standard, but I have had a ton of fun with Poe. Who says Rebel Aces suck?

I did quite a bit of B wing flying but have to say its based more on love of the ship than actual performance.

Generally, the dial is the issue. Specifically, the named pilots become too expensive with the upgrades they need.

Nera might be the exception as she has 360 torps, compensating for the dial issues.

Try to compare this to Keyan, even a lean one, brute force and durability for points in mind:

Chopper (Ghost), FCS, Hera Syndulla, "Zeb" Orrellios: 41 points.

4 red dice (5 at range 1), 5K turn, doesnt need actions, will block + stress + shoot you w/ 5 red if in arc, 16 hull+shield total.

As pointed out in an earlier post, I will second that the best B wing build is BSqP w/FCS at 24 points. Even more so in a pair of two (I never tried a formation of 4 but would expect most lists to out fly them easily and the terrible dial makes it hopeless to regain even the resemblance of a formation).

The strongest argument against those to B's are two Y-Wing GSqP w/TLT at excactly the same cost.

My favorite filler next to Dash is Miranda w/TLT and whatever you fancy, second choice being two Y-wing GSqP w/TLT. That is, if you are going for effectiveness. It is a list that really doesnt require much flying skill and relies mostly on math (consistency).
