Won my first ever game of Armada at our Store Championship.

By Rogue Dakotan, in Star Wars: Armada

Essential background information: I don't own Armada. With X-Wing, the LCG, IA, and Destiny I don't have time or money for Armada.... Sorry. :(

I borrowed a list from a friend to play in the Store Championship because it had been a while since I had played. We got in a practice game two days beforehand but other than that it had been well over a year since I played Armada. I just wanted to get some time in with the game again, meet new people, and have a good time.

My list was this: (my firend made it for me)

Empire:

Targeting Beacons
Fighter Ambush
Dangerous Territory

Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer

  • Sloane
  • Avenger
  • Gunnery Team
  • Electronic Countermeasures
  • Leading shots

Quasar Fire II-Class Cruiser-Carrier

  • Boarding Troopers
  • Stronghold

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer

  • Demolisher
  • Assault Proton Torpedoes

Squadrons

  • TIE Fighter x4
  • TIE Interceptor x3
  • "Howlrunner"
  • Jumpmaster 500

400 points even.

A story in two parts:

I ended up going 3-0 and taking 1st place.

Which felt a little dirty since I didn't come up with the list myself and don't actually own the game. (I gave my regional bye to the guy who got 2nd and some other prizes to other players. I kept some which I'll be giving out via The Jodo Cast sometime.)

I had a lot of fun. All of the Armada players were super nice and laid back. Even though this game takes foooorreeever to play, the community was way more chill than X-Wing tends to be which was nice.

Big shout out to the Armada community in Tucson, AZ for running a great tournament and having a fun atmosphere.

An hour and a half is forever? You must not have ever played 40k or warhammer.....

Well the length of the game is more in what % of it is downtime rather than actual clock time.

When you spend 70% of the match watching your opponent pre-measure every possible outcome it tends to drag on lol. ;)

Congrats on the win!
