Cannot Get Your Ship Out 7/10 through 7/16

Welp, I guess I'm working on an in-depth deployment article or two this week, huh?

It's only fair, I've been a lazy bar steward lately. Lots of extra stuff going on in my personal life lately and then I feed most of my free time to this

Ha, if you want to. That is a GIGANTIC subject that I think may need some time and all, but if you're up for the challenge?

Also, room by room, hall by hall, we reclaim what is ours.

This is a valid excuse. I need to get back to playing Darkest Dungeon. It is not a great game for when i take classes....

The Crimson Court expansion makes it even harder but the DLC-exclusive loot is neat. I've been liking it. The epic-length multi-attempt dungeons are cool. The Flagellant is a neat character as well and I've been enjoying him a lot.

I mean "hey guys let's talk about obstacle deployment but also I used a Darkest Dungeon quote."

Oh, are we just going to start using Darkest Dungeon quotes to indicate new articles? I'm all for this new turn of events.

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

If overconfidence is killing you slowly, you can afford to be more confident.

Also, on the Obstacles... This has been one of the best reads I've had in a good long time on overall discussion and tactics of obstacles...

The absolutely pedantic person in my only has the one tiniest nitpick at the moment (after one readthrough)...

  • Remember that ship's shield dials count for overlapping for everything , which includes overlapping obstacles and other ships. You can end up accidentally clipping an asteroid field with your shield dial, which is an unwelcome surprise.

*everything except the table edge.

Seriously.

A Shield Dial can hang outside the play area, and as long as the ship base itself is within the play area, the ship is not destroyed....

How freakin' pedantic is that?

Sorry. :(

Sounds like something that should have been in the 70 Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries

Very helpful article, thanks for writing it!

One issue I found is the sentence ' Because the squadron doesn't damage your ships, you only need to worry about maneuvering around the two debris fields and that's not too troublesome. ' in the section about using obstacles for yourself. Do you mean because the station doesn't damage your ships?

Yes I did, I'll go fix the typo!

Edit: Also fixed the overlapping section per @Drasnighta - he is correct that the dials don't count for overlapping the edge (sorry, I mentally slot that in as something else than overlapping, but it bears mentioning so it's been fixed).

I acknowledge it was hyper-pedantic to mention... >.> That's why I spoiler'd it.

Fantastic article either way, and I've posted it onto a few of my local players who don't use the forums to give them some focus

For data purposes I will mention I recently played aginst a Leia list that contained a MC80L which did well. Though it doing well maybe due to me still being a low level player (have a problem playing too passively with my ships). Heres the build of the MC80L he flew. It used an Engineer command once around turn 4 to remove a damage card and move + gain a sheild.

  • MC80 Star Cruiser (96)
    • Leia Organa (38)
    • Major Derlin (7)
    • XI7 (6)
    • Leading shots (4)
    • Spinal Armaments (9)
    • Gunnery teams (7)
    • Nav team (4)

Early impressions on wave 6 and some chatter about other upcoming articles.

I have Leia thoughts, but I'm going to need to develop them into my own article. Soon as I finish the checklist thing slash next weekend's store champs, I plan on beginning my (Han) Solo quest, a yuk yuk yuk. I have a few evaluation ideas, but I'm going to need like a bajillion games with her, haha.
