How This Deck Works

You use a Chaos Capital Board. This deck focuses around Corruption and massing units in the Battlefield Zone for continual bashing. Overwhelming the enemy is exactly what this deck is all about.

Your Rat Ogres are key to this deck as their Restoration action at the beginning of the turn is essential to being able to amass destructive power. Defend your Rat Ogres - deployment priorities are as so: Kingdom Zone First, Quest Zone Next, and Battlefield Zone last.

Quickly building up your resources will allow you to get more units out faster. Work on your Kingdom Zone first until you are getting 5 resources, then put a unit or two into your Quest Zone to allow a draw of 3 to 5.

You do not need to concentrate on your Quest Zone because Chittering Horde will allow you to draw pretty well. But if you need some card draw, place units on quests, or use supports - save your BZ units for the rush!

Corruption

You don't need to fear your Skaven units becoming Corrupted thanks to Rat Ogre. Use Corruption to your advantage! Once you have Bule, Lord of Pus out, you can spam the Corruption via Festering Nurglings or Seduced by Darkness. Shrine to Nurgle will help as well. Whenever possible, if you have your Shrine to Nurgle out and you are launching an attack, try and assign a damage to units instead of out right killing them so that they become Corrupted and unable to defend next turn.

Don't fear using Warpstone Excavation. It's a free resource or card! And since you will be playing Skaven units, they will be uncorrupted at the beginning of your turn! Don't fear using Warp Lightning Cannon to give your units an offensive boost or to Corrupt enemy units when it counts.

Warpstone Meteor is your friend. Use it strategically! Consider placing it in your Battlefield Zone so that the enemy has to make the hard choice of Corrupting a Battlefield unit or taking a point of damage to their Capital.

The Field of Battle

As long as your Rat Ogre is nestled safe in your Kingdom/Quest Zone (don't forget Developments to protect from Judgment of Verona!) you will be a damage pumping machine. Declare your attacking units, wait for the Defenders to be declared...then BAM! Corrupt your Skaven during the action window to unleash hell. Clan Rats will pump each other up. With the new FAQ, you can use Poison Wind Globadiers to instantly deal non-combat damage and remove 1 health defenders (they won't contribute power since they are removed before power is totaled).

Quests

Wolves of the North is a great card that you can put Bule, Lord of Pus on, or a Skaven unit with stacked Warp Lightning Cannons! (Greyseer comes to mind for two attacks per turn!)

Prepare for War will allow you to get all your weenies back! With your endless Chittering Horde/Prepare for War engine, you will have a continuous horde of units at your disposal!

Deck Weaknesses

Toughness. There's not much to say to it here. But thankfully, you have Corruption. Too tough? Too bad you can't block!

Gustav the Bear. Oye! Oye! All damage cancels when I have Corrupted units!? Good thing I can Corrupt him! If that fails, make sure not to have any Corrupted Units, then try and do a point of damage on him then Call the Blood!

Blessing of Isha. Can't be Corrupted? Well you are a damage pumping machine. The worst this can get is Blessing of Isha on a Toughness unit or on Gustav. Thankfully, you should be out damaging your opponent and have a much better card draw.

While I don't have the latest expansion pack yet, it's good to know that it's already possible to build a strong Skaven based deck.
I really enjoy reading your posts about your decks and their strategies, I always learn something new from reading them. Keep them coming!

Great deck - I'll be building similar (but a 2-copy version). although i wonder - since you want to create holes by corrupting to get your Skaven units through, would it maybe be better to sub the Shrine to Nurgles with something else since you dont really want your units blocked? and since there isnt really anything else that currently corrupts, maybe Blood for the Blood God or Brutal Offering? That's what i'm doing at least gran_risa.gif can't wait to get the card that's featured on the Skavenblight Threat BP box as well!

I understand why you have call the blood, you can use wind globideirs to tag an oppenents heavy, and finish it off with the call.

Here is anyother thought though. You are fast enough that you should finished off an oppenents kingdom or quest zone quickly, often before they are fully developed. At that point you job is to clear the path to another zone for the take down. Drop the call's, and replace with blood for blood God.

LOL Its odd for me to make that suggestion. Usally I am arguing in favor of the more vesile call and we need blood cards over blood for blood god. BUT for this deck it makes more sence. You are not adding the ackward DE loyality costs, and for the purposes of this deck, it fits these decks needs as well, with out the need to ping the target first.

After all, once you have rushed one zone, may as well make 2nd zone battle zone, OR use the card to slow down oppenents offence while you finish off another zone.

At thsi point though I am nitpicking, a very good deck indeed, looks more fun then an orc rush to play with and against, and only slightl slower. I like its theme and the inclusion of the new cards.

I dislike Blood for the Blood God as it usually cannot one shot most Order units due to Order units having a disproportionate number of HPs to Power. Call the Blood is far more versatile and bypasses damage negation as it is a destroy effect. Blood for the Blood God is less reliable as toughness and damage cancellation can affect it.

thats a really interesting deck mate
when ige t the new BP i will deffienently have to give it a go
thx for posting it :)

Yeah but with the deck you have, aside form him choosing to block and get pinged from globidiers, how do you get the point of damage to use call of blood? Thats is why I prose blood for blood god.

finally got theBPs here in aus... and i tried this deck... it is a very good deck...

just wondering what would u remove to include the Deathmaster Sniktch and Juvenile Wyvern???

I have 2x Core & 2x BP (3x tooth & claw) and this is what i run with this type-

3-Gutter Runners

3-Clan Rats

3-Clan Moulder's Elite

2-Poison Wind Globadiers

2-Greyseer Thanquol

3-Rat Ogres

2-Deathmaster Sniktch

3-Festing Nerglings

3-Savage Marauders (hard for me not to include for cost & power in KZ)

2-Bule, Lord o' Pus

2-Great Unclean One (yet another way to get a ton of damage in a killing blow)

3-Warp Lightning Cannon (love it on scouts turn they come in)

2-Chittering Horde

3-Seduced By Darkness

2-Brutal Offering (may seem counterproductive, but has saved me a few times)

2-Culling the Weak (again, final attack killing blow)

3-Warpstone Excavation

3-Contested Village

3-Scout Camp (on average i get one more skaven card while out when i use chittering horde)

2-Warpstone Meteor

2-Wolves of the North

Decided not to use Jevenile Wyvern here because I'd rather have the unclean daemon attacking than worry about defending. To me Scout Camp is more aggressive than Shrine because it can get me an extra unit. Prepare for War!, as much as i like it, i find too slow/

I have to agree. Seems so limited call of blood in this deck.

I would maybe replace call of blood for Deathmaster, he is a killer, and this deck seem to be swimming in skaven. But, i am a noob. only trying to help with my opinion.

FiendishDevil How did this deck went against orcs?

i have a version of this deck, but i went for slightly more sniping and hand destruction in it, when i get some spare time i'll post up my deck and see if it gives anyone ideas :)

I rebuilt the deck to include cards from Deathmaster's Dance. It is a completely busted deck. Skaven and Orc are the top decks right now. In my opinion, Skaven deck probably is better against most deck types. Skaven can beat an Orc rush all depends on the draw.

Once Deathmaster Snitkch hits the table, you win unless they can remove him.

Edit: My current build removed the Prepare for War! and Call the Blood to make it more efficient.

Yep. Skaven rush is the best deck right now. We have an anti-unit control deck that has a better than 50% matchup against it. However, that deck has worse matchups against every other deck than the Skaven does, so unless the field is totally full of Skaven you would be best served by playing Skaven right now.

Which cards do You included?

Um... Off the top of my head, I included the new Skaven cards from Death Master's Dance. I was simply trying to cut the deck down to be fast enough to take on Orc Rush.

I have a nice Chaos+Skaven deck, made of 52 cards. I might still tweak it a bit, but seems to be quite good.

That said, I won't reveal it to potential adversaries here, not until the clash of armies at the regional championship in Aldershot (UK) is finished. cool.gif

Could You send me your skaven/chaos declist via email?

It's not that great. But yeah, what's your email?

I know what you mean. I really want to post deck lists to be critiqued, but I don't want to reveal my thoughts if it might affect my local competition for the regionals >>
