Genesys events available at Gencon.

By Ragudaddy, in Genesys

Looks like they're running events using the beta rules. Got tickets for Saturday. Good luck.

Keep us posted. INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.

Cool! Where was that announced? Do you think they'll have any events at Pax Unplugged? Although the book may be released by then..

Are they likely to run some at Dragonmeet this December?

Is it worth setting up a separate thread entitles "Runebound" to highlight and discuss this specific setting and the fact they're running games using this game system?

@DarthGM Yo, that's really cool. Does that soft confirm Runebound will have a setting book? Or is this "look how flexible the game is, you can do pre-existing settings with just the out-of-the-box rules!"

Either way, I'm hoping they're doing PAX Unplugged as well, since I'll be going to that one.

Maybe?

Oh no, another forum topic for folks to discuss and theorycraft in...

In either case, it's still pretty cool that FFG is using Runebound as their showcase. It'll definitely show the community how magic works, right?

And if you're going, you might get me as your GM... ;)

@DarthGM At Gencon or Pax Unplugged?

GenCon. Pax Unplugged is probably not in the cards for me.

Oh, you know how we like to get excited, heated, angry, upset, depressed, and chilly about books we have next to no information but we still feel the need to conjecture upon.

Man, I wish I could go. I'm betting we'll get a big info drop about then, but please keep us informed.

I bet there'll be one a good bit before that. Even if there are NDAs to sign FFG knows that people will spill the beans once they get home, or at least one person will.

But that's okay it'll just build up the hype even more. Now if only the official playtesters weren't so tight lipped..

Hat tip to the silent playtesters. I cannot confirm or deny if I perform a similar role for another organization, but I know that if I could, I would also confirm that this makes you Good Peopleā„¢.

That description could easily be interpreted saying "we are using our Runebound beginner box as a demo"

I really hope that's the case, and that there is more Terrinoth on its way.

I was actually going to sign up for one of the Genesys sessions, it would be worth a day trip down to Indy, especially since I haven't gone to GenCon in quite a few years.

Unfortunately, I discovered that you can't just buy the $6 session ticket, you also have to by a con badge. Really?

I though that was bad enough - then I saw the price; $75 per day?!? GenCon can kiss my gamer-white posterior!

I guess I'll have to wait for Genesys to go retail to experience it. Perhaps FFG will have something at Origins. Please?

It'd be great if the session was televised via Twitch or something.

I wish I could. ;)

I don't think they'll live stream the event. But they could record one and upload it to youtube and other places. They've done things like that over the last years with their daily GenCon Updates. They do bring a video production crew with them.

I was able to get into the Saturday afternoon game and I'm really looking forward to this! Ever since I've played in an EotE demo and bought the beta book, I've been hooked on the system and thinking of which other RPGs I could use the system with. The big stopper has been a magic system. I hope there are a few ways to handle it in the core book!

I'm wondering if there will be a Beta rulebook or not, and if there is if there will be a chance for us sad folks not going to GenCon to pick it up.

@DarthGM , I won't listen, but would still like it if you had any info on this you could scream into the void. :)

With how close this is to release, a beta rulebook wouldn't make a lot of sense. There'd be no time to actually gather feedback that could be applied to the release book.

I have to imagine that any experiences players have at GenCon for the Runebound sessions can't be quashed or prevented from sharing.

I'll double check with Sam Stewart, but I'm pretty sure I'll be writing up a blog post somewhere about how the games I ran played and what mechanics we can expect based on Beta rules.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gencon isn't the "official unofficial unveiling" where the media blackout gets soft lifted. I hope so, I want more than the two official articles we've gotten. I want to sink my teeth into something!
