Cyphers and Masks Spy book announced!

By coyote6, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

I just picked up my copy. There is definitely some cool stuff in here.

I particularly like the "Spending Advantage, Triumph, Threat, Despair on _____ skill checks/encounters" that the splat books have. I use them quite often, especially when doing group check for a certain number of successes. I find the tables ad to the narrative very nicely.

This book has plenty!

  • Computers
  • Deception
  • Skullduggery
  • Stealth
  • Slicing

Anyone have any specific details on he Garotte, and Chrono Garotte?

Specifically if it an opposed brawl to get out of it? And do you have the cost/enc and rarity for both?

And would it be suspicious if a droid wore a Chrono? ?

No, why would it :P

Can anyone post the stats on the ear comlink and escape kit, won't have the book for a bit in the UK and would love to get them in my regular game

BTW, there is another starship in this book. It's on page 88 and part of one of the adventure ideas, but It's really a rather nice Sil 5 boat IMO.

Possibly in the interests of forward compatibility, there is a sidebar on page 9 addressing espionage operations during the Clone Wars period.

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but, does anyone know what the last line in the description for Cloaking Device for ships is supposed to say? It cuts off mid-sentence.

The sap gloves are kind of ridiculous. I can accept that sewing some lead weights into a pair of gloves would make them about as useful as brass knuckles (rounding up, due to the resolution of the system), but +2 damage, concussive and a hardpoint for a mere 50 credits? That is just stupid considering how the system treats something like, say, a knife.

I was surprised at the low number too. There are about a half-dozen vehicle attachments (one is a Hush Drive).

Yeah I've been getting more disappointed in the new capship inventory for a while really. It sucks because there were some awesome FFG created capships in the early EOE and AOR books but lately the number has plummeted and even some of the canon designs I expected to see in recent books have been missing.

And don'r get me started on the Interceptor-IV Frigate stats. How is having two heavy turbolasers and a single concussion missile launcher, each only capable of targeting a single side, and with no overlapping fire zones, supposed to be an upgrade over the original Interceptor class frigate which has six grade unknown turbolasers, and three proton torpedo tubes?
