Lets Battle, Happy Friday

By Cubanboy, in Star Wars: Armada

Happy Friday and happy weekend to all. This weekend I thought it might be fun to mix it up a bit.

Rules

Each person gets two votes, a 1+ and a 1-.

Vote for your favorite ship with a 1+ and your most HATED ship with a 1-.

Example

ISD 1+ / NEB B 1-

Cut off is Sunday whenever I remember to check the forum :-p

Most hated ship to play as, or play against?

Ether reason is fine.

ISD II + (just too good to anything) / Neb-B SR - (just too bad to anything)

+1 Liberty. Played it in the CC with Madine and came to love this little guy.

-1 ISD2. I live in an imperial meta and all I ever see are ISDs.

Imperial Star Destroyer 2 + / GR-75 Medium Transport -

ISD2: Everything the Imperial player could ask for: great stat profile, great maneuver chart, great weapons and upgrade slots. a true all-comers ship and highly iconic. Oh, and properly costed.

GR-75: too cheap, too durable, too effective and just boring to watch scurry off to the far corner of the map at the first sign of trouble. At least they aren't immortal commander caddies anymore.

Imperial class Star Destroyer +1 -- Do I really need to explain this? Either version of this ship is a monster.

MC30 -1 -- Don't get me wrong, this is a stellar ship. I'm just an Imperial player who considers this little bugger his nemesis and is annoyed with last/first advantage, it can be a Rebel Demolisher while I lost mine.

1+ Gladiator, even with the nerf still my favorite ship mechanically and aesthetically.

1- mc-80 hate fighting those giant dice-spewing shielded cucumbers

1+ Raider. A wholly underrated little ship. Fragile, but a unique little toolbox.

1- MC80. "It's ok, I'm at long range. I'll be fine. Wait... what do you mean you're rolling nine dice?" I've been one-shotted by the Ackbar/CF/Defiance combo so many times. My good buddy also likes to chuck Enhanced Armament on top of that.

1+ home one mc80/gozanti 1-

+1 Liberty Class

-1 Gladiators

1 + CR90

1 - GSD

+1 Pelta. Does anything. And lives.

-1 Raider. Ship is bad. Neat, but bad.

+1 Raider Corvette

-1 MC 30

+1 Raider. External racks, mmmm.

-1 MC30. Admonition continues to shrug off massive amounts of dice damage in all my matchups.

Funny, I think that there's a fairly strong consensus that it should probably be reversed, at least now that Raiders have Flechette Torpedoes (from the Pelta expansion, in fact).

MC80H1 1+: awesome to play

Impstar 1/2 1-: having to play against imp stars with an effective hull strength of 17 and 4 frontal shields, it gets repetative and boring real **** fast

Happy Friday!

MC30 1+ -- Awesome ship. especially with the tiles but even without them. The rebel Gladiator 2.0. . .

MC30 1- -- . . . Unless I'm playing against it. :D Even Motti RBD ISD-IIs are easier to take down than Mothma Foresight! Especially when I run dolphins! They make life so easy as rebels, and so hard as Imps*.

More seriously, I can't really think of a ship I'd 1-, and can think of so so many that I'd like to 1+. I guess the above must stay.

*This of course assumes that my basis for player skill is myself and opponent, not people like @PT106 or @Ardaedhel for ISDs and MC30s respectively. Who here wants to watch a battle of PT's favorite ISD list vs Ard's famous MC30 list (Has it already happened??)?

1+ TRC-90 - fast, manoeuvrable and cheap

1- Assault Frigate MKII - ugly and awkward looking. why didn't FFG do the much better looking and more 'star wars-y' Assault Frigate MKI instead?

Happy Friday!

I took a few days off, so I'll be able to paint or play with the new plastic once the local shop gets it in today (or had it yesterday and didn't bother to call me to let me know...).

+1 for ISD. It's THE iconic ship in the game. Big, powerful, and as multi purpose as it comes. Yeah, it gets real expensive quick, but that big arc with Gunnery Teams, you're gonna lay down some fire.

-1 for Pelta. It can be used effectively, but it's a tough nut. It's slow, somewhat poor yaw, not nearly durable enough, and doesn't put out enough firepower to justify the cost. I've not yet built a list with one where I felt it was a good idea.

But the AFMKII looks better than the AFMKI. . .

+1 MC30c - I cannot make a single list without this ship, whether it's a Mothma Foresight or Ackbar Scout Frigates, they are a force to be reckoned - but have an equally significant weakness in that they just cannot sustain much damage. Really well balanced imo.

-1 ISD - the sole reason I am afraid to play with a Pelta (my brother has managed to one shot it twice both times I fielded that ship).

+1 Interdictor - Maybe it's just because people don't play against them much but I absolutely love the psychological effect that these monsters have on my opponents. The look of disappointment on their faces when they unloaded on you with a massive barrage and by the end of the round you're back to full health.

-1 CR90 - D*** cheap b******* just deal so much damage for their price and then have the annoying habit of running away on 1 hull to escape the fight. If I played rebels as often as I play Imps I'd probably love them. I was so glad to see the TRC nerf.

ISD II +1
My bread and butter, who doesn't love Avenger?

Pelta command ship -1
I really feel the fleet command slot would be the only reason to take this over an assault frigate. As an Imperial player, sinking these has always been easy, so I guess I'm just not impressed over all.
