Feldherr cases/inserts

By gennataos, in X-Wing

Does anyone have opinions on the Feldherr cases/inserts? I've been using Plano cases and I'm thinking about upgrading.

I'm a huge fan, but it's not the cheapest option if you've got a sizeable collection. It does a great job of protecting stuff though - I've had a grand total of one ship damaged in the three years I've been playing, and that was my own fault.

I purchased one for a gift, but I like Battlefoam as it's fully custom and the foam and the bags are a bit better that Feldherr, IMO.

I love mine. I have my stuff stored in the appropriate inserts at home and the bag makes it so simple to grab 2-3 squads and game kit and keeping them safe.

They are the best unless you are looking packing your stuff into as small room as possible. Convenience is awesome (storing ships on their base is such a time saver. Quality is great, price is very good, room for accessories is there. and cheap cardboard storage options for home storage as option to those high quality bags are avaible as well.

On top they keep updating their foam to optimize size, while still offering great protection AND convenience. Am actually even using a plano from Feldherr for my tokens, has the advantage that it perfectly fits into my bags.

Now battlefoam is fully custom, very space efficient and a lot more expensive than feldherr. Quality is good there too, but personally I am not a fan of cramping stuff together without their bases, so the slots with ships with base from Feldherr suit my taste perfectly. Get to the store, grab your chosen list directly ready with base, cardboard, and all out of your bag, dials there already too and get going.

stupid spelling checker. :)

Thanks for the replies thus far! Does anyone have the trays from Highbridge Designs? If so, do they fit in the Feldherr cases well? I have the tourney and deluxe template trays.

I have a bunch of Feldherr stuff. If you can afford them, they are great. If not, then stick with Plano. Feldherr also has pluck foam if you want the fully customize approach. They also offer foam for multiple games, so you can have a couple of games in a single case for games night.

Trigger pulled. Thanks, everyone!

Where do you get your stuff? I can't find the cardboard storage for home. I've only seen one available on amazon with trays I already have.

got any pics of how you pack your lists to be ready to go? and what is the Plano from Feldherr for the tokens you mentioned? I'm intrigued.

I've got the feldherr mini and its great for game night. I can fit 3-4 lists in depending on what I take. I don't think the highbridge designs fits, but Cog-o-two specifically makes a template holder for them and it works great! I wrote to them and had them create me a 2nd tray for tokens and range rulers, cog-o-two is super responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Game night kit works perfect!

Only addon I would suggest is a shoulder strap. I had to modify my case with D rings to add one.

I ended up getting the Medium because it looks like it'll accommodate my trays. It's probably more than I need to carry to a typical game night/tournament, but I didn't like the idea of carrying my trays separate from the bag.

Best option I have found. I have a mini case for taking single lists to events and a couple of larger cases for when I need to provide the ships for everyone.

I got the cardboard boxes from my FLGS, but I ordered as well from feldherr directly. They have a online store, shipping to north america is expensive unless your order reach the free shipping limit. (iirc $150).
https://www.feldherr.net/feldherr-storage-boxes-1/storage-box-xl/

For compartment boxes you have two choices, half and full-size ones:
https://www.feldherr.net/compartment-box-feldherr-half-size-form-factor/a-52322/
https://www.feldherr.net/compartment-box-feldherr-full-size-form-factor/a-52324/

And has a tip, most feldherr bags and cases have a customize option at the feldherr store, which means you can fill it with whatever foam from their sortiment for a fixed, discounted price. So if you take for example a 280mm full-size hard case from them, you can fill it up with up to 280mm in foam for a package price.

https://www.feldherr.net/feldherr-hard-case-xl-individual-case-28-cm-full-size-foam/a-49558/ - nice deal if you already know what you want. Basically all bags are avaible in such a way, unfortunately not available for the cardboard boxes.

My tourney favorite is the medium bag, usually fill with two lists, one for play and one for backup in case someone forgot something or needs something else to play last minute + half-size compartment box for my tokens, which works as platform to move from table to table with my ships as well. Though the mini plus would work for that purpose splendid as well and is a lot smaller, so it fits in nearly all backpacks.

For transport of those cardboard boxes has feldherr btw something as well, their transporter fits several cardboard boxes into one large bag. I suppose this would be nice for epic when you really want to bring the ships for both players.

Oh and here a pic from the Feldherr page:

As you can see those small ships fit with base, just throw the cards you need into the big compartment, grab the ships and you are ready to go. I usually have the cards and tokens needed for a list ready in a small plastic bag. Large ship you need to assemble first. :)

I invested in Feldherr stuff about a year ago, and I've been really happy with it.

It's not cheap, but personally I haven't regretted it at all.

Best bet is to get variety of storage boxes for the foam: some (cheaper) cardboard, some hard cases, and some of the nice zip-up fabric ones.

I use Feldherr too to store my collection and am very happy with it

I use battle foam, however since my collection is so huge most of my ships just stay in the BF boxes (3 x720s) and i have a crafted storage box for game play use. if I had to do it over again i would simply get a nice shelf system to display the ships and the crafted storage box for transport to FLGS matches... would be cheaper too!!!

I use battlefoam, partly because of their custom case creator. It's a great way to waste a lunch break playing X-Wing Tetris!

I like the Battlefoam ones that hold ships in by the base, that's what I've gone for as my portable carry case... this is what I've got with me today for the evening.

Another Feldherr user here. I have two big storage boxes from them, one for my scum (rebels and real scum), and another for my imperial fleet. Need to get some more trays to get it all sorted right, everything fits nice and it's easily expandable. Not the cheapest storage solution, but works for me.

I went the KR Multicase route. I have one KR for each faction, plus a Halo case to take to events.

It's still not enough. I probably need another one to house all my Epic ships.

You know you're addicted when you've spent pushing £200 on cases alone ...

My standard size Highridge trays don't fit in the Feldherr mini-plus size, though I have made custom trays to for both the mini-plus and medium sizes. They aren't currently listed in my store. Message me if you'd like some photos.

Good lord that X-wing in the top right corner has a laser bent so far it actually rolls 3 dice against one target and 1 more against another at range 1 to the right of the x wing.

I've got a mix of Feldherr and Battle Foam for my X-Wing stuff. Battlefoam is stiffer foam, but Felderr has more options. It's hard to say which is better. My Decimator, Raider, and Assault Cruiser are in a single Battlefoam and my Tantive IV is in one of it's own. My Ghost Hounds Tooth, and Rebel Transport are in individual Felderr, In all honesty, if you're going with your own, custom carrying solution, go Battlefoam where you can. If you plan on using a system from one of the two companies, go with Felderr.

I squeezed 4 trays into a bag designed for three. Put it in the back of my car then put the seats down and crushed it. This was not intentional.

I broke two pegs on a Khiraxz and HWK, which now look cool on ring magnets and ball bearings.

Highly recommended, has protected my collection despite my oafish tendencies.

Has anyone ordered directly from Feldherr (Germany) to the US? We put in an order three plus weeks ago and still no update from DHL in three weeks. (from today)

Didn't know if that was normal for DHL or not.
