Auzituck firing arc

By timg_83, in X-Wing

Sorry if it's covered in the other thread, but this is maybe worth it's own thread.

In all the preview material seen so far, I'd assumed that the Auzituck had the 180 firing arc same as the YV-666, but looking at the Aux arc reference card in the Auzituck pack, the shaded sections are the standard 90 degree arc and the rear 180 degrees at the back, so instead of 180 front facing it looks like a 90 front facing plus the 180 rear facing arc!?

Anyone else picking up on that? Unless I'm mistaken, that's a bit of a game changer for this ship right? Not having a Kturn isn't so big a deal if you have 270 degrees worth of firing arc.

Id post a pic but the size of the one on my phone is too large. I'll link the YouTube vid below:

Theres a clear shot of the card at the 25 min mark.

EDIT: Question answered below, it's a 180 from facing arc expected.

The icons are in the upper left and upper right, indicating the un-shaded arcs on the cardboard are the auxiliary arcs.

The gray is not the Auzituck firing arc.

The black is the auxiliary firing arc.

It's exactly like the YV-666 insert

Don't make the common mistake to think that the aux arc is 180 degrees. It's not.

The front arc of a regular small ship is about 80 degrees only, due to the cardboard being a thin rectangle, rather than a square. The aux arc of the Auzituck is the *remainder* of that front 180 degrees.

This could mean that you can reach ships a bit farther at range 3 with the aux firing arc than you do with the front arc. It's a subtle effect that becomes very easy to see in vassal, where the areas for firing arcs, target locks and now aux arcs are shown all at once. Target lock acquiring also reaches a bit farther in the corners than a front arc.

lol at first I thought this post was asking why does it have a standard firing arc when it doesn't have any missile, torpedo, or cannon upgrade slots. The best answer for that is snap shot.

And becuse currently every single non-epic ship in the game has a standard primary firing arc?

This answers my question, thanks.

It is a 180 front facing arc as expected.

true but also every non-epic ship that doesn't have secondary weapons doesn't have an auxiliary firing arc. Without secondary weapons there really is no difference between an auxiliary firing arc and a main one unless there is an upgrade such as tail gunner (which still doesn't apply to the Alcatraz :P ). To be honest the only thing that makes a difference between primary and auz on that ship is Snap Shot. Snap shot doesn't work on aux arcs.

nope, a pair of 50 degree side arcs!

I think you have just discovered the designers new twist for wave 12: ships that only have side firing arcs! ?

Now I'm intrigued by the idea and wonder what ships would only have a side firing arc.

I've been waiting for a mechanic like this for awhile, I think it would be awesome to add into the game, a pure broadsider, count the arcs as primary arcs so you can still utilize every upgrade card, and give it a bunch of oridanance like a pirate ship firing its cannons.

That was my thought. It makes a lot of sense on an epic ship. I could see it possibly working on a large ship. It would be a lot of fun flying a small ship with only side firing arcs, but I can't imagine a small ship that thematically makes sense to have this type of arc.

It already exists on an epic ship (for hardpoints. The Tantive)

I keep expecting something like this to take that role:

We've been saving up for a Tantive, but I've never played with or against it. This makes me even more excited to get one.
