Okay, let's say there's a TIE Fighter at range 5 I don't particularly like and there is clear lone of sight. Now, I know he would get the usual defense die bonus at range 3, but does he get another one from range 4 and ANOTHER from range 5?
Epic Range ruler question
Thats how it used to be in the printed version of the huge ship rules in the Tantive and Raider. Download the latest version of the rules, you only get +1 die now for ranges 3~5.
Well... that explains that. That'll teach me to read the instructions that came with my ships! Thanks for the assist!
They changed it (I assume) because it made range 4 and 5 weapons pretty much useless. They didn't get substantially more red dice and the defender was getting so many green dice you could never hit anybody with even average agility.

You can't really be blamed for following the rules that came with the ship. My suggestion would be to check the X-wing support section here every once and while for updated FAQs and rules.

When we usually play, I have that on my phone for easy access. This last time we were in my friend's basement which is basically a bomb shelter and he can't even get a WiFi signal down there let alone a cell signal. lol
We'll be prepared next time
It used to be impossible to hit anything beyond range 3 with the primary weapon before the change. Even 1 agility ships would roll 3-4 evade dice that can be easily modified to your 4 attack dice that cant be easily modified. I was happy when I saw this errata. I manadged to oneshot a fully tockened Suntir with the Tantive at range 5 once.
