4 Ship Rebels for Store Champs

By SirChadwinofTwombly, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Playing in my 1st store championship next week and looking to fly a 4 ship rebel list. I've been playing a lot of Rey and flankers, or 4 ship rebel lists lately and thought this would be my best route for success.

Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing25

R2 Astromech1

Integrated Astromech0

Ship Total: 26

Captain Rex — TIE Fighter14

Ship Total: 14

Jess Pava — T-70 X-Wing25

R2-D24

Integrated Astromech0

Ship Total: 29

"Snap" Wexley — T-70 X-Wing28

Draw Their Fire1

BB-82

Integrated Astromech0

Ship Total: 31

Looking for any advice to improve on this list or streamline the upgrades in a way I'm not seeing. I don't have any Rebel Epic ships, but have all the other Rebel Ships and upgrades and a C3PO. I keep in formation as long as possible focusing fire, and once biggs goes down, it becomes harder to pick the priority because the rest are pretty powerful or useful in their own right at bringing the damage. Keeping it wiley and jumping around a lot as I can break formation and reform easily enough to make target priority a challenge for my opponent. R2D2 and Draw their fire work, but they are definitely the ones I'm least sure about.

Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!

R2-D2 and Draw their Fire work a lot better when they're on the same ship. Draw their Fire on Snap and R2-D2 on Jess is a bit of a swing and a miss.

I would run a different pilot than Snap Wexley, unless you're planning to use him as a flanker. His ability and BB-8 is not conducive to formation flying, which is another reason Draw their Fire is misplaced on him.

A Red Squadron Vet can take Draw their Fire and R2-D2 for the same points you have in Snap. Then you could put M9-G8 on Jess.

If you want a 1 point droid on Biggs, do R4-D6, it doesn't always get a lot of value, but it's harder for someone like Fenn to decimate him quickly.

Another cool option for Jess is M9-G8. She doesn't really need a target Lock, so, give a friendly ship re-rolls. It's a great value.

I agree with the point above about draw their fire/R2-D2

I know you've said you don't have the epic ships but I would recommend taking a look at the Rebel Transport if this sort of list is your thing. The transport is meaningless but you get 4 of the best astromechs in the game that really give X-Wing squads a boost - you could easily be running 3 of them in this squad! Rebel Transport feels like a luxury purchase but it's one you'll get a lot of value out of if you like X-Wings.

Without those mechs your list is pretty good, but I echo the idea of putting DTF and R2-D2 on the same ship being a good one. If you drop Jess down to 26pts you get 34pts free, which could bring in Wes/Wedge with R2-D2 and DTF, or could be Shara Bey with a cheap crew slot option.

Snap is definitely the flanker in this list. I don't intend on the ships staying together except for during the initial engagement, it just adapts to the situation as I can split the formation and reform easily enough.

R2D2 felt out of place, but I couldn't really think of much else for the points. I like the idea of M9-G8 though. Definitely going to change that out.

The Rebel Transport is on the list to get, but probably won't before the tourney unfortunately.

I like the red squadron pilot and Wedge ideas. I'm also picking up the Auzituck Gunship next week so I'm thinking of just replacing with selflessness instead to DTF, just to help keep biggs alive if they decide to go all in on that initial engagement.

Thanks all, that give me some great starts to tinkering with this. I knew the R2D2 felt clunky as is, but that really helps me sort that out!

Wes, sadly, comes in the transport too. Which is a shame, because he could work very well indeed in this squad; pair up with Captain Rex to token-strip and suppressive fire a target.

M9-G8 is a great buy on Jess; keep her in formation with a wingman and both of them get action-free rerolls to hit.

If you like flying rebel x wings and t-70s (or arcs) that Rebel transport is worth it. It's one of the cheapest huge ships in terms of cost (and points!) and with all the awesome upgrades and x wing pilots it comes with I think it is a must have ship.

Well I guess that settles it, it seems I'm going to finally have to break down and buy a transport soon hahaha.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Of all the epic ships the one that I think is by far the best value is the Rebel Transport.

This is a thing, isn't it? People call it the Rebel Junkyard? If you get the Rebel Transport, I've heard this is doing really good.

It is a thing. Braylen is the new stresshog. potentially one that can actually destress itself.

There's a lot of variants, like putting R3-A2 on Jess because she's a tank and freeing up your 4th ship slot (eg. for Lowhhrick).

I've been using this list as well, but as I can't proxy that for a tournament I went with this variant. I like using tactician instead of gunner personally in that list though(little cheaper and easier to clear the stress if I need to K turn eventually). And instead of Jess Pava I usually end up putting in Roark with tlt to really make the most of Rex messing up people's shots that round.

Do you use the stresshog and tactician together? That's an interesting combo. You won't double stress as often, but it is easier to clear. I like the roark idea. Rex is fun, but my biggest issue is the fact that is PS4.

Yeah I put them together on the arc. You're right about the not as often, but usually i am needing to k turn at some point to come back around to the action(despite the back arc), so I like that a little better on Braylen.

The PS4 can be problematic, but for 14 points I've been loving him in lots of my rebel lists lately. My opponents usually end up making him a target priority due to the condition so it ends up like a 2nd biggs somewhat at times, due to them wanting to have all their dice back when they should be going after my end game ship.

Im sure you probably don't have all the cards for this. I didn't either but borrowed a few. I played this list at our SC and took 6th. The game i lost i blame more on a targeting priority error. It has done well outside of tourneys also.

TIE Fighter: •Ahsoka Tano (21)

ARC-170: •Thane Kyrell (34)
Vectored Thrusters (2)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

Basically first round of combat r2f2 with biggs, evade with ties. Then use ahsoka to give biggs a focus. You can use jyn for that if u want but i usually try to save jyn for a later action incase biggs doesnt need it so i can give it to ahsoka. Biggs has 4 def dice minimum from sd and r2f2 plus a focus and can add more with jyn after you spend it. Makes it hard to take him down unless you blank out. Ive had that happen though and still won and have won different ways no matter who's left and with not so great dice.

The one thing i don't like about this list is not having a focus in the beginning for ahsoka's attack but the list has managed w/o it. You can also alt build it to add finn on thane instead and take sd off Biggs. Ive tried it one game but bumped and didn't get off swarm leader and did not play a good game. Want to try to run it again
