Temporary "solution" to not having enough provinces shown yet:

By Togashi Gao Shan, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

I love 'early playing' this game, even though I'm fully aware that things will change a lot once we've seen the whole set (if nothing else, which clan's cards you splash into your deck can make a major difference).

However, one big issue that keeps popping up is Provinces. FFG has yet to reveal an Earth neutral province. Since the rules requite you to use exactly one of each element for your 5 provinces, every game we're playing is not 'legal' More importantly; I think it can skew how people feel about the game. For instance, say you're playing against Crane, and attack into both Shameful Display and the Art of Peace. That can be game over. However, it's quite likely that Shameful Display is an Air province. If it is, no deck can have both Shameful Display and The Art of Peace. Same goes for Lion using both Elemental Fury and The Art of War, or Dragon having both Night Raid and Restoration of Balance.

So, I propose we make a custom Earth province of some sort to test games with. I know it's likely any guesses as to what the neutral Earth province(s) actually do will be very off-base, but I feel it's worth at least giving it a shot.

Here's one I threw together. Probably shouldn't have an "either or" ability, but since either ability is possibly to weak on its own, and making either of them 'doubled' and on their own seemed too powerful, I settled in this. I considered making it an honor-gainer for the defender but I'm not sure that's a good idea balance-wise.

Good catch. Too bad Stannis wasn't much good for anything other than correcting grammar. Then again, after what he did to his daughter, he deserved to be put down, either way.

Not in the books.

TBF the gif I used was from the show, so it's legit.

Sure, but the gif has nothing to do with his daughter, as far as I can tell.

There are two Stannises: Show Stannis and Book Stannis. My gif was Show Stannis, and the quote is unique to Show Stannis. It would have been odd for them to respond with a critique of Book Stannis.

I'm curious where the flavor text comes from. I recognize that it's drawn from "This Land is My Land," but as the song is often parodied, is it a reference to something else that I'm not aware of?

No reference, really. I just made this particular version in a about two minutes, which somewhat explains its (lack of) quality.

Sure, and book Stannis is both smarter and not as completely brutal as the show version. As far as his daughter's fate, though, I'm fairly certain he'll do something similar if the books ever get finished.

The character arc they've meddled with to the worst effect on this show is probably Jaime. The show's version of his 'reunion' with Cersei...ugh. Way to not get a character, 'D&D'.

Not in the books yet. You know Stannis doesn't have a happy ending in the books either, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if the daughter burning becomes canon when GRRM finally released the next volume.

How many S's in "Blessed" again? :P

On a serious note: I like it as a card and I like your intention behind making it but I think this card doesn't fit this purpose. It's too interesting, too non-vanilla.

What about a strength-6 province with no rules text?

The Naga wrote the name for me.

Anyway, yeah, a blank 6 might work.

I've seen some of the people posting their games online are using 'Ancestral Lands'. As far as I know, the only bit of that card we've seen is the name and 5 Province Strength. It's quite likely it will be Earth, but not definitely. The people using it have made a proxy that has the text 'This province has +5 strength during a Political conflict". I have no idea where that text comes from. If its just pure speculation, it seems a bit strong in some cases. 10 province strength is huge. Then again, it will be very weak against military-focused decks, so I suppose it's sort of 'balanced'.

It's really not the worst homebrew proxy province. Not really a bad idea if everyone since everyone in your group would have access to it and know about it going in.
