Do you guys think the 72 hours days would be viable?

To put this in context I have played games with week long days. There were three types of players:

The constant talkers. Think me, Truthy, Ovi. These players will keep chatting regardless of game length.

The once a day essay writers. Probably JJ. Dont engage in the day to day, but reliable to review the game once a day and write a reasonably lengthy post pushing questions that they want answers to by the next time they log in.

And the non posters who should burn in hell.

So you think would be viable or not?

I don't see an issue with viability. I don't think that 72 vs 48 really changes the equation much in terms of how often people will post.

So, I am sporadically reading a game Onidsen had in a different site, and found their method of voting interesting. In order to clearly identify what they were doing, votes were in bold red and unvotes in bold green . This made them easier to pick out in a thread. Now, I know we have the

##vote

method, which is simple, though it requires a separate line for the votes, but I was wondering what people thought of introducing color coding as well, thereby making it nearly impossible to miss votes.

It sounds good, definitely easier for GMs, requires a bit more time from the player than separating the line

How do you adjust colour whilst on a mobile device here?

That was my one big concern: I don't know. Is it a rhetorical question? Do you know? I assumed there must be some drop-down menu, as how else would people access emojis?

Having GMed, that was my first major thought - how to make it easier for us. Assuming they can change the color in mobile, the inconvenience to do that shouldn't be too much. . . Still, instead of merely imposing it upon the players next game I GM (should I be able to do so), I figured I'd leave it up for popular vote.

We can bold italic underline and emoji.

To use color on mobile, just tag things like so:

(color=red)vote target(/color)

Except you use square brackets instead of parentheses. [][]

Results (I'm on mobile atm):

Vote target

How do you get bold?

Edited by ForceGhostofNobodyInParticular

It has both advantages and disadvantages compared to our ## vote system.

The ## can be easily searched for issued a ctrl-f command. That functionality is something that is hard to overstate! Sure, it catches all our the votes inside quotes and other things, but a quick ctrl-f gets you all the votes on a page.

On the other hand, the different colors stand out much easier in a block of text, and so makes scanning through a long day easier and can help players see the votes easier.

Probably the best way to find out is to try a game with color and reports back on how people liked it.

(b) bold text (/b) but with square brackets, or just use the bold button at the top of the text editor.

I like the current method because i dont have to do all those things you mentioned.

From what Gink indicated, you don't need to type out the commands, there must be a menu or something. How do you guys currently get bold/italics/emojis/etc? Look around for a color changing menu, and if that works, tell us if it is too inconvenient to use it. If not, then it would make GMing easier whilst not overly increasing the difficulties to players.

Any increase is overly increased.

Really? Why?

Just now, ForceGhostofNobodyInParticular said:

Because I'm lazy.

Yeah, ## is easier. The colour can be quite useful, but takes quite a bit to do it, when you are more preoccupied with not losing the line of thought in the vote and just putting it in the middle it's much easier to simply go enter,##bla bla and enter again and carry on

I suggest to keep Onidsen's method of linking days in the op

That was awesome last game. It was even better than CNinja. :P

I'll sign up to GM one. I think the list is two or three games long now, so I'll have time to get something together.

I'll stick with playing the games for a while, I have too much of a need to talk to end up sitting in observer's

@BiggsIRL is GMing the next one, then I am doing the one after that, so you get to GM 3 games from now.

I'd definitely like to try another playing another game if you'll have me. Hopefully I end up as vanilla town so I can really start to stretch those deductive muscles.
