Good article on the CC base defense objectives! If I may add two points to the Base Defense: Armed Station that can greatly improve it's utility:
1. Grav Shift Reroute.
Interdictors with Grav Shift Reroute are great for Show of Force but they are also good on defense, specifically Base Defense: Armed Station. You can set up the armed station in the center of the board and then move it as needed, thereby making a portion of your opponent's deployment zone undesirable and their deployment perhaps more predictable.
2. Repairing Ships and Squadrons
The first player's ships/squadrons can't be repaired by the armed station, but the second player's ships/squadrons can. Combined with the Grav Shift Reroute, this can give the second player a powerful advantage if they can dictate where the battle takes place.
It is hard to write and work. I was so much more productive when I was only dying.
