Blatant cheating at a Store Championship

Seriously. This again. How pathetic does your life have to be to do this?

Copy Pasta from Video Comments:

At 32:30 , his opponent is getting out an upgrade die and cheater just goes into his discard pile to get a card back.

At 1:06:25 , cheater has 4 cards in hand, then fiddles with his discard pile and ends up with 5 cards in hand.

At 1:29:25 cheater picks up the top card of his discard pile into his hand after doing the Maz Castle draw for claiming the battlefield.

There are probably others, but those are the most blatant. And this was just in the finals, after 6 rounds of swiss and a cut to top 8.

Yikes. Good catch.

The guy cheats numerous times throughout - so crap. As you skip through the video you can see how his deck and discard pile gravitates closer towards his hand.

It's on reddit too. The following is a response from someone (Aquaphe5 - reddit) at the FLGS. Such an awkward situation for their SWD community.

As someone who is close to the situation, know the parties involved and love the game store I want to add my input here. I was physically there at the tournament so I can provide some insight.

I personally know the player who was caught cheating. It's absolutely NOT OKAY. He's helped a number of newer players in the area, and contributed a lot to really helped grow the Destiny community. After reviewing the footage, I was honestly floored. It's blatent cheating .

A lot of players in the region know him, and he had the perception as a good player who really tries to help elevate the player base. No one even in our playgroup had suspected him of cheating...

Everyone is dissapointed in him... That's a lot to deal with. Every single friendship you created since December in the community looks at you differently.

In regards to the tough decision that was made by the TO. This particular player made a lot of contributions to help buildout our local Destiny community. He drove out one hour each way every week and was always trying to help new faces, and provide any cards for newer players to use.

All these factors came into play when the T.O. made the tough decision. Additionally, it's hard for the T.O. to make a retroactive call once the event is over.

I won't justify cheating. I want to reiterate Cheating is never Okay ...

This situation is not all black and white. He's not a bad person. His mistakes are inexcusable. I firmly believe that the player should recieve punishment. The public backlash has already spoken. There is a zero tolerance for cheaters in my book. He also deserves a shot at redemption down the road.

Cheating is never okay . There are repurcussions, but there should also be room for redemption.

You do have to like the fact that he lost final (I think 2 -1), but he would have beaten quite a few other players that deserved to be in the final instead.

Ahhhh i feel like in good old X-wing

it amazes me people think they can get away with cheating on camera.

Cheating is bad enough, but to do so on camera .... Sure you can cheat and if caught its all, he said, he said, but on camera, its all, idiot, what are you thinking.

Sick die flip at 6:35. Just saying...

Ah, apologies. I'm the dude who, like an old man, picks up the die to inspect it before turning it to the side I want. The way he did it just seemed weird.

Cheaters should receive an event disqualification and be banned for the next 1-2 events.

If they are caught cheating again then the ban should be permanent.

Redemption is possible, but unlikely, as this sort of person will just feel bad about being caught, but will get back into the habbit at a new store or once the focus is off them.

Anyone who cheats during a casual game like Destiny needs a hug. When I'm playing with my Star Wars toys I'm making "pew pew" and lightsaber noises. How could anyone be thinking about doing anything else?

That poor player's inner child needs attention. (and to be banned from all future official events.)
