2 TLT's, a Defender, and a TIE

By LifeGain, in X-Wing Squad Lists

What do you think of this list? Multiple TLT's accompanied by a super-tough Defender and a TIE blocker.

Lieutenant Kestal with Veteran Instincts, TLT, and Lightweight Frame--31
Sienar Specialist with TLT and Lightweight Frame--25
Countess Ryad with Adaptability (or A Score to Settle) and TIE/x7--32
Academy Pilot--12

Total:100

I don't think you're gaining much by taking Kestal, as much as I love her ability. I'd drop to another generic and spend the points elsewhere, like PTL and twin ions for Ryad so she can perform much much better.

And then I think you can fit Wampa instead of the academy too.

PTL Ryad is 37, Wampa's 14, so no, you can't. But you're right, PTL Ryad would be better.

I'd probably suggest that a.n.other 37 point Defender woudl probably be better, and Quickdraw or Backdraft better still- this list wants some high PS muscle to complement the low PS damage and blocking.

Ryad with PTL, Tie mk2, and x7 is 36 points. With upgrading the academy to Wampa, it's exactly the difference between Kestal and a sinar specialist.

Quickdraw (37)
Expertise (4), FCS (2), title (0), Lightweight Frame (2)

Wampa (14)

Sienar Specialist (25)
TLT (6), Lightweight Frame (2)

Sienar Specialist (23)
Synced Turret (4), Lightweight Frame (2)

I maths gud apparently.

My bad.

I'd still say the big gun needs to be as high PS as you can get, personally.

I'd agree with that. Personally I'd take Quickdraw

QD, VI BD or VI Rexler or Maarek would all work.

My spin on this idea:

Maarek Stele (TIE Defender) (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tractor Beam (1)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
TIE/D (0)

Onyx Squadron Escort (19)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Lieutenant Kestal (22)
Expertise (4)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Total: 99

Asajj with Agromech Y's do it better, but this could be a lot of fun.

I don't think this is worth the time you'd spend putting it on the mat. Maarek is the obvious first target, and is pretty squishy -- he's got two attacks, only one of which he can mod, AND that precludes him using the token for Defense.

Most meta lists right now can EASILY tank a couple rounds of TLT shots while they shred Maarek (possibly in the first round of combat, I'd say it's almost a sure thing by round two), and then they can sweep up the TLT carriers (I'm assuming the dial isn't going to be amaze-balls... And even if it is, these ships will still explode pretty quickly).

You want something high PS that can take some shots and stick around, so your TLTs are given more time to work down your enemies. OR, if the TLTs get focused on, your other ship can punish them with its damage output (Maarek does THAT well, no doubt).

IMO, and I have NOT tested this at all, the Empire needs to play to its strength when building a TLT list -- it has a lot of cheap, fully functional ships it can build into 50 points -- fit that in with two basic TLTs and you've given your opponent some difficult choices.

I'd consider something like below, though Countdown would also be an interesting choice as I think he really shines in a list with multiple ships. In the suggested version, Sabacc (with your preferred zero point EPT) acts as an obvious first target, but you've still got three lethal ships left after he goes, and he's tricky enough that you can use him to lead your opponents off on a chase... Or punish them with his hefty attack if they go elsewhere:
