I think Second chance works on crime lord? I'm assuming you can discard second chance if opponent rolls special on crime lord or an ammo belt if I have it?

Yea don't forget it also heals the character 5 hp

Crime Lord defeats the character, and Second Chance doesn't care how the character is defeated, just that they are. So yes, SC trumps CL (and is one of several reasons why decks using Crime Lord really need a plan B).

Or to be fair, most CL decks dont do dmg. So really does nothing but remove it :-)

Plus they were going to get that heal anyway; you've just triggered it early.
