Juke Tie/sf - viable or stupid?

No, you cannot. Comm Relay says these exact words:

You cannot have more than 1 evade token.

Forgot that one caveat. Just focus/evade then. It will help with insuring you don't lose shields quite as quickly and your ability can proc more.

As I mentioned above, Intensity is hot garbage on the SF. It is NOT a ship that can hang on to tokens, so you're never going to flip Intensity back over (barring extremely lucky dice). You're better off using an EPT you can use constantly and increases your offense.

Trying to slap an Evade on the ship while it has Juke is an interesting idea... Just giving the ship a single Evade via Intensity is wasting the contested EPT slot.

Unless you have a way of piling on more focus tokens...

"Backdraft" (27)
Intensity (2)
Fire-Control System (2)
Comm Relay (3)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

"Quickdraw" (29)
Intensity (2)
Fire-Control System (2)
Comm Relay (3)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

Scimitar Squadron Pilot (16)
Operations Specialist (3)
Rebel Captive (3)
Lightweight Frame (2)
TIE Shuttle (0)

Total: 98

Good chance to get extra focus tokens on the SFs with OPs Spec, allowing them to regenerate flip Intensity more often. You can even go crazy with Fleet Officer. Remember Imperials can have synergy too. Its not easy mode Mindlink synergy, but its there.

That's a lot that you've pinned on a Bomber's frame, is the problem.

Now, you worked this into a shuttle of some sort, I could probably see some value to it. In this setup, the Evades won't matter because the Bomber is the first target every time, and likely goes down round one or two to sustained fire.

Bonus, you get a mini-Biggs effect because the first target is so obvious, and some lists won't be able to burn through the hull THAT fast, I suppose.

I do like that you def get to flip Intensity back in the first round of the game, meaning you get at least two Evades/uses out of it. I'd say it's worth doing some testing, but I think I'd still prefer a setup that has the third ship handing out the Evades once and feeding Juke on the SFs, instead of trying to gimmick Intensity to work, but it's not like Juke is a perfect upgrade anyway.

Agreed, the shuttle can die really quickly, but maybe Rebel Captive makes it less ideal of a target. Ops Specialist does have a pretty good range on it, so you can attempt to keep the bomber back while the SFs dive in.

With some perfect flying, or a dense opponent (they surely exist), you'll get some use out of it.

As for Reb Cap, it really won't mitigate the shot. There are very few ships in the current meta that can't realistically shrug off a single stress, and any player familiar with the upgrade with plan for it.

I'd honestly consider swapping it for something else... Maybe even Kylo, and pray the SFs manage to land some natural crits? Or just use the points elsewhere, like a lovely new Cruise Missile on Quickdraw...

Hey, look at the store champs results. Someone called dathlurker won a decently sized one with Juke/CR on Backdraft and Quickdraw (third ship PTL OL).

I've now played five games with the list (5-0). Thoughest game so far was against RAC/Whisper. Juke can take credit for 3 of the damage points pushed through on whisper. It did nothing against RAC, but on the other hand the decimator is still a good matchup for Tie/sf:s.

Common opinion aside, I'm gonna go ahead an call juke on Tie/SF:s at least reasonably viable.

I know this is random but while I was trying to figure out how to get an evade token with a bomber shuttle - I thought about youngster - could u expose instead of juke?

A friend of mine just pointed this thread out to me, apparently you all already discussed the viability of juke SFs around the time I decided to opted to swap out Zeta Leader for Omega. Zeta was also my first choice but the prospect of OL with focus+evade every turn after locking was just too good to ignore.

I'd consider the list to be good (possibly even tier 1) if not for the existence of Teroch, Palob and Wes, mostly due to the fact that I've played around 20 games with it and have only had 2 loses so far, which is a similar ratio I had last summer when I started flying triple crack shot defenders (and ended up winning a nationals with). Unfortunately those hard counters will keep it in the realm of "janky lists" but it can surprise and utterly demolish an unsuspecting opponent. As I had already got the acrylic from a previous store championship, I decided to take a risk and fly this list last Sunday and ended up going 7-0 (losing 3 ships throughout the tournament) without seeing a Palob (occasionally appears in my area), Teroch (if someone's flying him it's probably me) or Wes (I haven't seen him since jumpmasters could still use deadeye). It's really good against pretty much any list with small ships and doesn't have too hard time against large ships with 1-2 green dice.

What is your opinion on using an SF generic for the hyperwave comm? You can use the cheap one with FCS, which is a pretty nice ship.

I considered it but prefer to take them with lightweight frame whenever possible, and going to 99 points instead of 100 also helps in hunting other PS9s. Omega Leader is also a tanky closer which is good against the 2-ship list meta.
