on damage cancellation and elfic unit

By smalldwarf, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Considering high elf unit as sword master and the dragon mage (spoiler tooth and claw),

and the rule change about assigning damage, so

this two cards are able to protect the capital zone FROM ANY damage, becaue they cancel every damage assign to them...

Is it correct ?

Is it a contradiction ?,

when you must assign enough damage for destroy the unit even it´s impossible to destroy the unit ?

Currently, with the FAQ, those two Units make the capital zone they are in immune to combat damage as long as they are alive (Sword Masters work in BZ only IIRC).

Yes, I have the same feeling, but It seam a little too powerful ...

Agreed, but there is ways around it. Like the DE card that lets you destroy a damaged unit.

May be if a unit cannot be destroy, it is not mandatory to assign damage to this unit. But i doubt that

James says they are watching this rule and those units closely. I would be surprised if there wasn't some alteration coming to one of them or cards that will make it less of a worry. Remember cards like Troll Vomit, Judgement of Verena, and the effects that move damage would all still be able to destroy them without having to worry about canceling damage. Those units will be firebreaks, but if you think you can just dump one in a zone and ignore it you may be in for a rude awakening.

That all said, I hope there are some more effects that will be able to rid the board of these guys considering the rule change to assign damage.

Don't forget corruption.
if the unit does not defend, there is no worry.

Empire and Orcs can move units to another zone.

There multiple ways around them, but playing around them is not always the best option, and should not be the only option. I'm looking for increased numbers of ways of removing them from play. I think deck building got a little harder and a lot more interesting.
