Unique Conflict characters

By kiramode, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

If I play Togashi Kazue from my hand on foot can I discard a 2nd copy of her to add an extra fate? I'm not sure if that ability is restricted to dynasty characters.

No, cause she isn't a character at that point. She is an attachment.

When I say on foot I mean I put her into play as a character for her stats.

Since you can play a Conflict character from you hand just as you would as if it was a Dynasty character, I would say yes, you can discard her as an action to get an extra fate.

It makes her a good deal stronger if that is the case. I'm inclined to think that she doesn't have such an ability though. Dynasty slots are quite limited so you can't have complete bricks there. But you usually have a surplus of conflict cards which would enable you to hold onto an extra copy.

Interesting question... Which leads me wonder if you have a Kazue as an attachment, can you play another copy as a character? I want to say no, because I guess "uniqueness" carries on, despite becoming too different cards in play. However, it would be really cool to have a Kazue attached to another Kazue! (I guess you can do that with the Wandering Monk, though.)

I think there's virtually no chance you can have her on foot while also having her strapped onto someone else. The uniqueness almost certainly carries over.

You get the fate for discarding a unique character. They never said it was from dynasty only, so It's safe to say from conflict as well.

Good question for l5r live.

The Crafting a Dynasty article says something different. It refers to having the personality at home and in a province.
