Satsume Scandal ~ [theory]

By shosuko, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

I am going to read the Crane fiction again. It seemed to me that her father was just harsh, as was normal in the society that this was based off of. Family issues were not to be talked about with outsiders, so no one else would know.

Her reactions to the family situation seem completely inline with behavior and psychology.

The interactions with the other people, family and friends, do not indicate that she is emo, or any more elitist than a clan champions daughter would be.

She seemed to me that she was focusing more on trying to get the job right, than looking good doing it.

I am going to read it again though.

On the upside, She probably won't be killing anymore clan champions anytime soon.....probably:P

A second look is always a good idea:)

Don't let the HotaruHate influence you too much. I'm sure if look hard enough you could find many many other things to hate about the Crane.:P

She seems like the perfect Crane to me.

Notice how we always end up talking about her.:P

It's a Crane world, everyone just lives in it.

As long as the Crane can die in it too, I'll consider it 'acceptable':P

I mean, it's not like we have some kind of plot armor or anything. It's just that everyone seems to define themselves by their apathy/antipathy toward the Crane.

That what you get for being rich, fasionanble, pretty, and popular.:P

It's human nature.

Popular should be in quotes. The Crane are only ironically popular.

Yikes!, One might get the impression you don't like Hotaru much.

Nah, everyone likes Hotaru, especially with those mad archery skills:P

I do have to admit to being rather impressed by her archery. Almost good enough to be one of the lesser Wasp!

I'm actually looking forward to what you might say when the Wasp actually make an appearance.:P

I would really like to see the Minor Clans all represented the same way the Imperial family cards are - they are neutral, allowing any clan to use them to employ a specific tactic. Getting some Wasp archers, or Hare clan scouts could be awesome! Just keep it as flavor that gets added to great clan decks. Same with Shadowlands.

Unless they throw together an MCA, you're probably correct.

Well OBVIOUSLY - but that doesn't make a very interesting theory. Needs moar twist

Hit them with madness tokens.

Honestly, I think the scorpion are most certainly responsible, but I don't know if Kachiko is even involved.

Remember, the biggest hanging cloud over the Crane is how the Scorpion are stealing their influence. Satsumi's death could have been just another of the Crane's positions of power being stripped from them by Shoju, seeking to replace him with a more useful or at least irrelevant player in that position.

I think the drama of having Kachiko truly try to help Hotaru only to discover that her husband is behind it, then having to choose between lover and duty would lead to very interesting drama. Because Scorpion are loyal, but the question can be asked of exactly "who" that loyalty belongs too.

10/10 would love this, just for the tears of salt from the crane.

You really like that you had a clan for like 5 minutes, don't you? :P

We already won the setting last time, everything after that is just a victory lap in my book. ;)

*Holds out Pretzel which clearly needs to be salted*

I can't help but think I'm setting myself up for disappointment, no matter how awesome they end up being! XD

Still, I am very interested to see how archery gets portrayed in the LCG. It's clear that to have it simply be an instant-kill effect like it was in the CCG would be far too powerful, but I can't imagine it won't be portrayed in some way. Maybe some form of helping out in conflicts without actually participating (so they don't bow in resolution)? I hope FFG doesn't keep us waiting too long, but I also hope they think good and hard about making the Wasps' abilities useful and thematic!

I'd give you a blue ribbon, but I don't think I could push a safety pin through all that plot armor. :D

If by not losing you mean survived until AEG couldn't afford to print anything but Love Letter variants and gimmick titles, then yes, you didn't lose.

You're like a Dolphins fan that thinks the '72 season is still relevant crossed with a pigeon who thinks it won at chess by knocking over the pieces and crapping on the board. I get it. I ran Spider sometimes as a troll play. :) This should move over to the smacktalk thread.

I think you owe some gratitude to the Mantis for your "win". AEG revoked our Great Clan status and, well, there went the Empire...
