I can't help but think I'm setting myself up for disappointment, no matter how awesome they end up being! XD

Still, I am very interested to see how archery gets portrayed in the LCG. It's clear that to have it simply be an instant-kill effect like it was in the CCG would be far too powerful, but I can't imagine it won't be portrayed in some way. Maybe some form of helping out in conflicts without actually participating (so they don't bow in resolution)? I hope FFG doesn't keep us waiting too long, but I also hope they think good and hard about making the Wasps' abilities useful and thematic!

Bolded is what I'm expecting. Some ability where they provide a set number to military conflicts that they aren't present at from home.
I could also see them contributing less then their base force, like a 3 Military personality having archery 2, so they can provide 2 force to two different military fights, or they can contribute to one fight and push 3 +whatever attachments they might have. So you choose static buff as a lesser value or the full value at risk of bowing or what not.

I think you owe some gratitude to the Mantis for your "win". AEG revoked our Great Clan status and, well, there went the Empire...

Hey, Yoritomo was quite clear as too what would happen should the empire reject his clan. ;)

At least you guys went out in the most metal way possible.

It could also be something defensive, possibly, like "Opponent's actions may not target this unit unless it is at a conflict"

Yeah, there is so much design space in this game. They could also just have archers have the ability to remove fate from personalities as an action, to represent "wounding" them.

Phoenix has a guy that fireball kills people already so anything can really happen!

Ranged could easily be a form of fate removal, and removing cards without fate. It could also be similar to Isawa Masahiro who can simply remove a character cost 2 or less from play. Targeting by cost is an interesting way to do it.

I doubt it would be a static force bonus from home though... Not without a lot of ways to target a character at home for removal, or to pull said character into the conflict.

It would be interesting if it worked like Shugenja. Archer characters could have abilities on them, but could also simply have Archer as a keyword - then conflict cards can be played because you control an archer. This could make ranged abilities more powerful because it requires a combo of cards.

As far as balance goes, I kinda feel like they would at least need to be declared as participants in the conflict. Maybe they could have some sort of trait or ability that makes them only able to be targeted by your opponent if they also have an archer participating, or if you don't have any non-archer characters participating.
