A Dash of Victory

By EmperorJay03, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey folks, considerations on this one? I like where this one is going as I'm trying to use a Victory now that Jerry helps it out.

Victory pushes initial fighters to chew through enemy screen. Victory is first to engage ships while SD1 and flotilla come up. Should have bombers left to pelt ships while Avenger and Suppressor stop desperate defensive token use.

Some other options:

1. Bomber Command Center > Comms Net?

2. Some TIE Defenders > Some VT-49s?

3. Finding a place for Admiral Chiraneau?

You've got way too few activations, honestly. Most fleets are five or six activations and will easily force you into bad situations. I also feel you've invested way too much into the ISD and VSD. You can easily flush this into five activations running a pair of ISD1s, but your fighter screen is lacking in size at that point. You could run it as four if you desired, however. Mine runs Motti with two ISD1s with XI7s and ordnance experts, an anti squadron Raider, and two flotillas with the ace duo of Cienna Ree and Valen Rudor. Took second in my SC, coming in behind a triple GSD list.

if you're keen on going the fighter route, I'd wait for the Quasar Fire light carrier to use instead of the VSD, which will let your free up points, and slim down the ISD1 into a brawler with XI7s and OEs, giving you further room to expand your support. Or if you want to keep the VSD, I'd drop RBDs, Tua, and boosted comms for expanded hangar bay, slim the ISD into a brawler (or go Demolisher), and add additional support like a comms net Gozanti to feed your carrier squad tokens, an intel squadron, and replace at least one of the TIE/Ds with an escort (Zertik Strom I'd recommend).

I'd second what Destraa said. 7 Defenders sounds impressive, till you realize I can tie them up with four TIE squadrons while I blast past with three Gladiators, blast the VSD and Gozanti, then fly away.

Did some tweaking, thoughts @Destraa? @Mad Cat?

Better for squadron play, maybe could use some more punch.

It is better than the first version with the 4th ship. I've gone right off Raiders recently as they tend to just pop. I think you will get more use out of a Gozanti and spending the spare points on more upgrades and squadrons.

For Avenger I would drop engineering captain to upgrade it to an ISDII. Gunnery teams work better with the large medium range battery. OE must then go but Boosted comms or Agent Kallus would be decent swaps.

Squall should ditch the Q7. I find there are a minor annoyance unless you take several and Konstantine. Expander hangar, Boosted Comms or upgrade to a QuasarII for the red flak dice (Kallus here if you do).

Raider could be a Needa TRC Arquitens or another Gozanti (with suppressor) and more fighters. Mauler works well with intel from the jumpmaster

I'd recommend dropping the engineering captain and leading shots from the ISD, add ordnance experts. You won't always have a guarantee of front arc shots, and OEs provide rerolls on all arcs other than the rear. Drop the Q7 off of the Quasar, replace it with expanded hangar bays. Looking at the Raider, get rid of Montferrat and external racks. Gives you fifteen points to work with. If you can shave another eight, preferably ten, you can add a second comms net Gozanti. That way one shadows the ISD, one the Quasar.

A bit more tweeking: chaining attacks with Swarm capable squadrons.

Looking really deadly now. Precision strike is ok but not that many bombers so other enemy fleets could be better at it than you. Most wanted is a good selection to make a cheap Gozanti worth double when it can scoot around the back lending tokens while you kill something expensive and too important for the enemy to leave out of the fight.

Also what's your thoughts on Sontir Fel over Ciena? With a double brace escort and once Zertek dies the enemy will probably want to kill Mauler or the Intel, you could grab a fair amount of extra damage points.

Fel does work really well with escort squadrons. I like the idea of pairing him with Zertik but I also like Rees auto obstruction. However, Fel could have more of a mass effect if he's in the middle of several fighters + protected by Zertik for couple rounds... I like the Fel consideration @Mad Cat. I like it AHlot.

3 activations is just fine. Not highly competitive, but a skilled player could easily make it work, especially if you have a bid for first.

From your original list, I'd drop a Defender and put in 2 Lamdas. Replace boosted comms with expanded hangars, downgrade the BCC to a comms net, drop engineering captain to skilled first officer, and take out Warlord for a total of 395, if I did my mental math right.

The only other things I might change are replacing Tua/RBD with tua/ECM, moving Tua/ECM to Suppressor(it's really annoying when you can't kill the ship that's exhausting your defense tokens, or taking out Tua altogether for a bigger bid.

In truth, the Quasar will perform the VSD's main role for cheaper, and probably better, but what you had before was also fine

I have not actually tried using ECMs on a flotilla but that could be quite interesting! Usually, I would just keep them behind or in between two larger ships to protect them.
