I think it would be best as "At the beginning of each activation phase, you may choose 1 friendly ship. When that friendly ship would gain a stress token, if you have no stress tokens you may gain that stress token instead."

That's already the ability of Captain Yorr for the shuttle though. I do like it involving other friendly ships but I think it would be better to go the Lando route where the second iteration very different but much more thematically appropriate.

It's not entirely true.

There are a lot of things missing in this game because they are more busy balancing the meta. I wish they would spend a little more time fleshing out the game with lore-based releases rather than just point adjustments. To wit:

Wraith Squadron and a bunch of new X-Wing pilots

Phoenix Squadron and bunch of new A-Wing pilots

Just as examples. The the video in the other thread, they say that they made Nym both Rebel and Scum because of the lore. So, yeah, that's cool. My point is that I would really like to see things get in the game just because they are SW, not because they had a mechanic that then needed lore-based names.

I would like to see releases that say "The Battle of Endor Exansion Pack" or "The Battle of Scarif Expansion Pack" that add things to the storylines of the game. More "Heroes of the Resistance" type releases would be nice.

Also, the idea is not just FFG's. I have seen people say that certain things should not be developed because they would duplicate or be too close to something that already exists. To which I would say "who cares, it adds more SW flavor."

I said balance, you gotta have a mix of fluff and practical rules. You know what happens when you say "Screw the rules, fluff and iconism is all!"? You get GW and twelve different factions of Space Marines.

I never said screw the rules. I said release sets based on story and theme.

In fact, this would be less likely to screw the rules, since the efficacy of the x-wing and a-wing, for example, are already known entities.

It is similar, but it has some key differences. No range limitation, and Leia can't do it if she is stressed. Yorr can take multiple stress tokens potentially, with a range limitation. Leia could do it from across the board, but on a more limited scale.

I know but my point is that when you continuously release slight variations on a small number of iconic designs it starts get really annoying particularly for those who like more esoteric models and because there is a limited number of people working on new content you eventually end up like 40k where over half the models are some kind of Space Marine.

FFG's current system of doing occasional touch ups to older ships to increase our options and usefulness is working out fine and while I would like it at lot if it happened more frequently I understand that they have a limited number of things they can work on at once and I don't want it to come at the expense of totally new content, particularly since A-Wings and X-Wings have already gotten updates while other ships have not. Maybe it would be better if FFG postponed new waves for a little bit to focus on older ships and story theme boxes, hell it almost certainly would be, but if they did you just know that people would start howling about how lazy they've gotten. Hell they redid one ship based on a specific commendeered version from a very well known TV series and there is a dedicated group on these forums who find a way to ***** about it in every single thread regardless of the actual topic.

I'm with you 100% on the concept but I also completely understand why they stick with their current system and I don't think they have the ability to do both without saturating the market to such a degree that they are competing with themselves.
