Don´t know where it is previewed in.

And all of a sudden, Eager Scout makes perfect sense.

From L5R Live.

Based upon what they said at the end of the L5R Live, Sacrifice is a big part of Crab. That means crab needs to play a lot of characters to use this ability. Eager scout is a good sacrifice character.

Somebody previewed it in a spanish forum, but didn´ t state the place it was previewed in.

Ooh - I hope that Crab have some other guys that trigger bonuses if they are sacrificed or die in battle...

Edit: Apparently that is already known! haha

Eager scout with reprieve is good for multiple sacrifices

HIDA!

mmm suicide crabes.

I don't think you can trigger the sacrifice if you reprieve the Eager Scout as the sacrifice is part of the cost of the Gunso and Reprieve prevents that cost from executing.

Reprieve would trigger as a result of the cost of stoic gunso.

Typically in other FFG games, you cannot pay the cost of something through a prevention replacement effect.

Clone Chip + Sacrificial Construct in Netrunner comes to mind.

Not familiar with Netrunner, but it is a question that should be asked next L5R Live.

You're going to bow one of my dudes? FINE! Let's just murder him instead! How do you like that!!!

Or a guy who was getting discarded to fate at the end of the turn.

From Magic: the Gathering:

"So they want to kill my soldiers? Well, two can play at that game."

This was the same in AGOT. If you save a character you sacrificed then you didn't pay the cost of the sacrifice and the effect doesn't happen.

It's a cool idea that Crab has a lot of sacrifice effects (assuming, of course, that Way of the Crab does, indeed, sacrifice a character to sacrifice an opponent's character or something along those lines.)

The Eager Scout falls perfectly in line with this, as does this character.

I am a bit concerned because...Crab was never about spamming weak dudes. I don't know if I'm excited about the fact that the clan encourages me to run a bunch of guys that I don't mind sacrificing.

Ideally, the other sacrifice effects we see are potent. If they're going to build a theme around this, I hope they do it in a way that doesn't feel like walking on thin ice.

Can the Stoic Gunso's action be used to sacrifice himself, if for some reason you want him in your discard pile (such as to die a true samurai rather than become a pawn of the Shadowlands)?

A note; It doesn't say that the sacrificed character has to be at the battle. One could, in theory, sacrifice someone who is bowed from another battle at home, and preferably with no fate on them.

So the Stoic Gunso did eat that Eager Scout.

Yes, but ideally you want the sacrificed character to be "used up" before sacrificing. Even if a dude is on his way out from fate you could still use his stats for conflicts

Someone tell that guy to put a shirt on before he gets tainted.

In a perfect world, sure. In a more desperate situation...
