Duel in the Valley of the Jedi: Taking Ebb/Flow for a spin

That way if we include crafting, theyd have to recraft everyone every time, making terrible or amazing rolls less swingy.

True, but what amount of credits would be enough? If a build doesn't rely on gear the character ends up with thousands of useless credits, or a dragon pearl? What if the Crafting characters gear isn't damaged, now they have even more optimised stuff.

Again I'll say I think it's best if the first championship is simple, simple rules, simple functions. In the future we could have a specific Crafters Challenge, every piece of gear needs to be crafted, more credits between fights, make it a real test of the entire crafted system.

Handwavium for the crafting seems okay as well, IMO. "I made it before, I can make it again," and just leave it at that?

(Clarification: for replenishing crafted items that were destroyed during a previous battle)

Just stick to you create and build character, then start with that gear for each bout.

If you used up items, they are replaced. If equipment was damaged, it is repaired. If equipment was destroyed, it is replaced.

Keeps things simple and no bookkeeping needed.

That's what I'd do. I think the minor difference in philosophy is whether to treat the competition like a real-world, mixed-martial-arts tournament, or like a player-versus-player video game with respawns at the end of the match. But for now at least, I'd err on the video game side of the equation.

Does anyone have a clever name for this PvP league? All I have is "Star Wars PvP - Open Season"

With a name I'll start the general thread and begin enrolment.

I second "Sorry About The Mess." :D

So:

"Sorry About The Mess: A PvP Tournament"

?

I don't have a dog in this fight (not yet, anyway), but I'll third the apt "Sorry About The Mess."

Yup I think you got a name

For those following along I posted the main thread today

Good deal! Thanks for the initiative Richard!

Haha, so a PbP game never really dies? It just slows waaaay down?

Like approaching an event horizon.

Little did we know that junkpile known as The Dusty Nomad was trapped in a small dock sized black hole...

I signed up; expect me to be the awkward one that annoys all the Jeddiiii

@LordBritish

What style are you aiming for?

Rooting Tooting gunslinger. Straight Gunslinger, no additives, more gadgets then batman just lord forbid should he actually get engaged with a melee monster. XD

Not sure whether the smuggler signature ability is worth diving for, but I'm more aiming for a Cad Bane style concept, physically a serious melee combatant could thrash him and a dedicated shooter might prove too much, but it will be interesting to go all in on a thematically interesting concept.

Well put up any guidelines, xp/credit limits and let's do it.

I think they followed the rules of the tournament, 300xp post character creation and 18000 credits extra
