So these are the usable encounters, there is some really nasty stuff in here so it's possible a bad roll could completely tip the balance of a dual. Probably something we should keep an eye on. I also noted random NPC's that should be excluded from the potential hazards list, I think they're too difficult to adjudicate fairly.
So we either need 3 more or need to remove 7, removing 7 is probably easier.
Don't forget the EVA lightsaber duel on the hull of the Star Destroyer Other considerations...
Other duels that would be awesome:
Ok so perhaps we could expand the list to 25 at least. The cantina encounter in that PDF isn't built for combat, it's more social.
Dude, @awayputurwpn , I thought you should see this. I was playing around with that idea I had of building a character like Gavin, but with Protector instead of Shii-Cho, one thing led to another and I ended up with this killing machine. I would be scared to go against this character with the 1,000-XP Ataru Striker/Hermit/Peacekeeper in my long-running game.
Some noteworthy features of this character:
--With his armor plus Parry, he can stop 12 lightsaber damage
--If you spend 2 strain on Falling Avalanche his saber does 12 damage + successes
--He has 20 points of Ebb/Flow plus FR2 to neuter the strategy that Hasal used to win
--20 wounds plus 2 Stimpack Specialization means he can sustain up to 45 wound damage before he drops
Edited by DaverWattraWas your 1K xp Striker/Hermit/Peacekeeper built with a singular purpose in mind, like a dueling-dedicated PC can be?

Ha ha ha, no joke! 6 Brawn is scary even without all those talents. Yikes

No, but I would say lightsaber combat is the first among his specialties... this is mostly my way of expressing amazement about how powerful a specialized dueling PC can be within his narrow sphere of expertise.

I'd like to see a Jedi Killer build go up against a dedicated duelist. Something styled after Jango Fett or Cad Bane.

I'm just imagining an Assassin Gadgeteer with Unmatched Devastation, lots of piercing weapons from shoulder mounts, heavy pistols and vibrio rapiers... nasty!
if you want unstoppable you really need Armourer and Commando. Soak is ridiculous, then you have Durable, Supreme Armour Master and the Unstoppable talent. Add Soresu if you can to really buff your defence.
There are many cases that can/will be abusive:
What happens when Bad Motivator causes a lightsaber to fail for the encounter?
What happens when Draw Closer is used by a guy using a flight suit at Medium range above you? He pulls you in, swings, and if the lightsaber doesn't take you out, you're now looking at a nasty fall.
Depending on the amount of money involved, a Silhouette 2 vehicle with an autoblaster is a possibility. A deadly possibility.

Id love to take a non force sensitve Morgukai against a Jedi.

Bad Motivator is subject to the GM's approval, and also doesn't say anything about how long the device fails for. I certainly wouldn't allow it to be used to cause a Lightsaber to fail for an entire encounter. I might allow it be used like the Refined Cortosis Gauntlets: the lightsaber shorts out and can't be reactivated until after the last initiative slot in the next round (possibly longer, depending on the result of the Mechanics check to activate Bad Motivator). This would give the Mechanic character a free round to attack with being Parried, and/or a reprieve from being attacked a lightsaber.
Draw Closer would only pull the character to you; I don't think I'd give him falling damage unless you scored enough Advantage/Triumph on your lightsaber roll to Sunder his flight systems.
Your points are well taken, though. Obviously there's potential for abuse of the system, and that is another thing that we'd have to keep an eye out for. In the case where one man's "abuse" is another man's "fair play," consensus should be reached and honored.

This one in particular has been on my mind and so far I see no way to get around it as a problem. Auto Fire is obviously a big problem too, and vehicle scale weapons like you said. Also using Move to disarm the opponent or combining Improved Saber Throw and Improved Sunder? Misdirect to be Invisible?
There are a lot of ways to break this idea so basicly I think a polite agreement is important for some competitions. Having a free for all would still be interesting though.

I'd be game! I've got a Soresu Defender build I've been wanting to try out.

Reread that part about Draw Closer. The guy with the flight suit is the one jerking you up into the air so he can smack you with his saber. Then you fall from Medium range back to wherever you were before the attack. Good luck getting enough Conditioned to soften your landing enough that this doesn't quickly decide the fight.

Sentry spec has the falling talents.

AH, I see now. Yeah that would be brutal
Ummm...just get a Savior Anti-Grav Chute and you're golden
Mods, any ideas on how to manage them? Orokos rolls on the character sheets so there is easy to see history to prevent reroll cheating?

Yeah Orokos is nice and clean. I like the owenmead roller, but it's weakness is that anyone can access it, and it can get wiped real easy.
Cool.
What did you guys think of the 300xp and 18000cr rules you came up with? Is that enough? too much?
From the outside 300xp seems like a decent amount, you can get deep into two trees and find some decent synergies.
Looking at gear 18000 is heaps if your not getting a Saber (Reciprocating Quad Blaster Cannon with Jedi Battle Armour is a possibility!) but it's actually limiting if you want more than just a basic Ilum crystal.
We could just say no Gunnery weapons as a general rule...?
Actually that's a great idea. Perhaps a later season could test those waters more, a Vehicle v Infantry battle would be a fun test.

I have a PC that fits this build actually; he is a PC who has fallen victim to the Jedi and the inquisition and has become an inquisitor hunter as a result. He then became a theif of legend; both to provide a reputation as THE most untouchable man in the land and fund himself to keep ahead of his many adversaries. Tobin Stryder at your service?
Though the issue is he is like a 1300 exp character with an armoury that probably has a retail value of half a million credits. Bounty Hunter - Gadget-Assassin-Emergant-Artisan-Striker. He's not actually that crazy (his soak is only 4-7 depending on armour) So it would be hard to condense him down into a format that works because he's a broad concept. XD Though an earlier career stryder might be fun, since even before he properly picked up a saber he was active in fighting inquisitors.
Ok so we should have various weight classes (xp)
I purpose, starting, knight, 300, 600, 1000,
Leagues might be:
Lightsaber
Melee
Brawl
Pistol
Pistol (no disrupters)
Anything
Anything (minus auto fire)
I also wish to challenge the Jedi winner of last duel
