Damned Cities

Hey folks,

I'm enroute to setting up a Damned Cities campaign using ~5 characters at 5000EXP. However, as I've not actually bought the book yet, I wonder: does anyone have any brief recommendations? Because I don't quite know the 'opening vista' or prelude of the book (though the players have played Tattered Fates but the new characters won't have done so, but will be roughly connected to the events of TF), I'm keen to get a rough handle on it for Char Creation purposes and to get the players thinking before the game starts.

So, basic questions:
- How important, if at all, is the acolyte's chosen Inquisitor in the game?
- How does the opening scenario play out intially, what is constricted in terms of 'how they got to that point'?
- Suggested starting EXP, packages, relevancies and so forth?

That sort of thing, any help would be quite welcome!

It's setup is a basic your boss sends you to investigate certain deaths. The deaths are only interesting to the =][= as there is a harlock connection and the prior advenures. I don't see any reason why an Inquisitor of any ordo couldn't justify poking his nose in. The Harlocks were involved in a bit everything. The PCs arrive on a tramp freighter, and land at the space port in a shuttle.

As far as characters I'd not have the PCs be rank 1. I'd say rank 3. It would be handy for them to have either an adept or arbite with the skills to do a little CSI work 40k style. A scum with social skills would be handy. As would a noble born social type. The PC should be moderately armed. Good autoguns to bolt pistols. Armored body gloves, Xeno mesh, or flak armor should be the min armor. Heavy weapons, and power armor are going to be out of place, and make combats less challenging.
