What is going on the Boat carrying Ghosts of Dathomir?

By MitchPelon, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

So I'm thinking about why Ghosts of Dathomir has been on the boat for 3 months. That's a lot of time on a boat.

Theories:
The boat has been taken by pirates, hoping to score some massive loot. They're holding it hostage until they get a ransom.

The boat went off course in the Bermuda Triangle.

There was a mutiny aboard the boat and they've decided they need to keep the book for themselves.

The boat took flight towards the 2nd star to the right and went straight on till morning.

I'm open to just about any other theory as well. Except a probable one. That sounds boring. Wrong answers only.

Or they cracked open the crate and found a new hobby. International crime plummets as the Somali pirates roll for initiative.

It didn't make the left at Albuquerque.

They roll dice as well as I do and keep failing their navigation check

They sent it old school:

Image result for 1600 transport ship

And here I was going to attribute it to a misprint, but you all have some excellent ideas.

Extended party, where some illicit substances were about they have lost track of time and are currently scouring the Philippines for munchies.

It was sent on a boat that was only supposed to take a 3 hour tour..............

Those **** Grey Aliens stole the entire shipment for experimentation purposes how they are going to cross breed it with a cow I have no idea.

Everyone in a while a ship looses a shipping container at sea. Would suck but maybe the FFG container did a swan dive.

Yes and are apparently a bigger danger to shipping than icebergs (the larger ones are mapped) as they stay afloat for some time as well. I used to work in Intl shipping but not in sea freight, but had friends that did.

AS long as it's not lodged into the side of a Navy destroyer...

And no one thinks we should recover them?

and how would you suggest that they do that they couldnt find a plane that had sophisticated tracking in it (i know modern containers do but no where near the sophistication of being able to track globally or several hundred metres under water, not many ships are equipped with the recovery gear to recover a container that has gone overboard, nor does it have the steering to be able to turn roud every time one does, by the time it did, the container may have sunk, drifted a hundred miles in any direction or pretty much any options you can think of. Depending on its load and the integrity of the container as well , and sending out recovery after the fact would be a costly exercise. Spotting them as well, again citing a pla e ditiching in a known location has been seen to take weeks and months to find any wreckage if at all. Do you think they will spend this amount of time effort and money to recover that 1 container out of 20,000 that does go overboard. It's just not worth it and easier to right off against insurance, even the damage to the boats it might hit.

It's also going to stay that way while sea shipping remains the cheapest way to move things in bulk globally.

If they are tracking them because hitting them is like hitting an ice berg they at least know where that one is.

I didnt say that, I said they pose a greater threat to shipping, not because of the magnitude of any likely accident, but because of the chances of actually hitting one are much greater than hitting an iceberg, not that hitting one is like hitting an iceberg, Larger icebergs movements are plotted and it is almost impossible to plot the movement of a container.

I assume the ship sank in a freak accident involving at least two counts of "shenanigans". Afterwards, the container with the books sank to Atlantis, and now Aquaman is running a Ghosts of Dathomir game.

And Namor keeps trying to metagame.

The books got kidnapped for testing at area 51???????

Containers do fall overboard sometimes, so there's that unhappy possibility.

Alternatively, there was an organized play scenario for Shadowrun years ago where the mission was to board a freighter and destroy a container full of a company's shipment of their new miniatures game. Ergo, we can only conclude that some other game company ordered a hit on Ghosts of Dathomir . Who did it? Wizards of the Coast - payback from the previous rights holder? Modiphius, to clear the way for Star Trek Adventures ? It'd be kind of a Strange move, so maybe Monte Cook Games hired some mercenaries. Who are the other suspects?

My bets on Cubicle 7. They wanna rub FFG's face in the fact they got the license to do the warhammer fantasy rpg.

Is there anyway to get official word on this? Savage Spirits was on that boat and is currently selling for 100+ dollars :(

Not to be a downer, but it is incredibly unlikely there is going to be any kind of official word as to what the status of Ghosts or any other product that has been delayed or the reason(s) why.

My current working theory is either that A) The disputes at the LA docks and/or re-working of Pacific shipping routes that happen recently have delayed it indefinitely, or B) There was a major issue at the printer for those two books, and FFG needed to get them both reprinted.

I have no way to confirm if either of these is accurate, but that is my guess. If it's the latter, it's possible we may start seeing them move again this week or next. But I wouldn't hold your breath...

It's cursed. Ghosts of Dathomir is a very unlucky book.
