Golems and Lancers July 13th

By TallTonyB, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Upcoming page updated to shipping now.

****, it might be Thursday of 3rd week, not 3rd thursday.

Yay! More carrion lancers!

Exciting news, but if things keep releasing at this rate, I definitely won't be able to keep up with another faction.

Good thing Waiqar's faction is the best. I'm wearing purple today in his honor.

It'll be the 13th by the time I can buy Mauro and Hawthorne. But it's exciting to see things flowing monthly

Baaahhh.... right before i go on a business trip too....fml

Be so glad when these stupid trips are over...

The trips pay for the hobby :)

No actually they dont lol thats the annoying thing.

A week long trip got me maybe 150 more than my usual paycheck. Being forced to eat out all the time counteracts most of the extra pay (perdiem). Especially when the finks youre stuck on the trip with insist on "seeing the local cuisine" all the time, making every dang meal cost almost 30USD on average. I swear im the only one in this company that actually tries to save money.
Fortunately, these are unusual. Typically im only gone 2-4 days 2-3 times a year, not 1-2 weeks 4 friggen times a year. Gotta love dealing with the military.....ugh... (I work for a radio company)

Im guessing theyll be hectic until all factions have their 2 heroes, infantry command, siege, cav, ranged and melee infantry, then it should slow down.

Things will slow down as we get closer to the end of the year. I suspect they want to make sure faction has access to equal amount of choices before releasing new content.

Right on schedule. Guess we might not see Elves until Gencon after all.

I suspect once all the factions have access to a footman, archer, cavalry, siege, 2 heroes, and a command box we'll see them go back down to the usual 2-3 releases a year like with other games.

I could see them doing normal waves of 4 things, 1 per faction. They dont have to all be the same kind of unit either (such as in the first wave like this everyone gets an "elite" infantry, which while not being a normal slot just means theyre infantry that are NOT cannon fodder because theyre kinda pricy). In fact, after the initial releases it would be better if they didnt have the same kind of army lists available to promote diversity. I'd be rather shocked if the elves didnt have more range options than the other factions, being both great archers and spellcasters.

I agree. And from a cynical perspective, having different units means that you get different neutral upgrades released at different times. People who can't bear to not have the new cards immediately will buy out-of-faction for those instead of waiting for the next wave when their faction will get that neutral upgrade, thus generating more sales for each wave.

Bleh. I head out the 9th to Maryland to spend a week doing labs on Bioweapon Defense and Infectious Disease Lab Techniques, not heading back till the 15th. Hope they've got some on hand. Though lately I never use Rune Golems except to add to my Spearmen ><

I hope once all factions have their melee infantry, ranged infantry, cavalry, siege and 2 heroes the releases will be metered in such a way that equivalent neutral cards come out in the same release. I.e. wave X all factions get heavy infantry so all neutral cards will be usable by heavy infantry.

I enjoy a 4 block of golem and next to no spearmen, heavy cav support. 4 golem is magic.

Use fire rune for range!

No, tried it, garbage. Wind runes are what I want.

I've used fire runes twice in a hawthorne enabled 1x2 rune golem conga line. I've yet to lose with it ;)

1x2 golems are surprisingly good. They don't need the extra brutal since they come with it and the reroll is great for the fire rune and normal fighting.

Anyone try a max unit of golems yet? (6 trays I think)

Will report back after the 13th, definitely plan to.

Do you think they'd release card-only upgrade packs? For whatever reason, it seems more likely for RW to do this, say over X-wing.

highly, highly doubt it.

The card system is FFG's selling point for everything.

Except they've already pivoted to putting them within each faction equally.

Yes, but that wont stop them from staggering them. Which they are doing.

Daqan have no access to Wind Runes until Golems come out, but theyre in the reanimate archer box.
Plus, if you want cards for other units you need more of that expansion that has it anyway.

Yeah its not as big a deal as xwing but its still their marketing practice in the end. And im finding for Waiqar so far it works since you only get 1 CI with the archerrs, which means you have a unit of 2x1 of archers w/o it if you want multiple 2x1s for blighting
