Welcome aboard the Shuttle Tydirium Podcast for episode 56! This week we welcome special guest Joe Boss aboard the shuttle for a special guest appearance. Joe Boss is a Star Wars megafan, and runs a cool blog, linked below. Check it out! Unfortunately, the microphone we arc-welded to Joe Boss's flight suit was malfunctioning during the flight, so his audio is unreliable during this episode, despite efforts to clean it up. We'll mostly be discussing the recent previews of the Auzituck gunship and H-6 Bomber, but we'll also briefly discuss the patreon account we recently launched. Enjoy!

Joe Boss's Question: 7:40

Patreon: 23:20

Auzituck: 26:05

H-6 Bomber: 1:-9:15

Usually I only buy a single copy of each Scum ship, but I'm pretty tempted to buy 3 Scurrgs so that I can field a whole wing of heavy bombers in Epic - Maybe Nym in the Havoc with Minefield Mapper, a couple of Karthak Revenants and Emon Azzameen with Cad Bane crew to back them up, all loaded down with Cluster Mines.

I'd like to use that second half of Captain Nym's pilot ability to be able to lay out Cluster mines that I can use defensively, especially to screen a C-ROC from damage and that means laying down as many Cluster Mines as I can manage. It sounds like great fun to me - we usually play at 400 points so I probably have the points leftover for some Scyks or other light fighters to back them up.

I liked the episode, but this one was really hard to listen to. Even though Joe is hilarious, I don't think you should have Joe on again until he gets a headset. The whole thing sounded like it was done over teamspeak in the middle of a school lunch room, with Joe for some reason unable to talk into the mic no matter how many times he is told, and constant background sounds over everyone else speaking like a mic was too close to the speakers. Headset mic + push to talk was desperately needed.

Hey Joe, I know it wasn't your intent, but as a former demo rep for a game I actually took some offense to how you referred to the FFG guys in the captain's question. The role of the demo guys is to put on events and teach people how to play - so yes they have to play by the rules. I assume that 100/6 tourney play isn't even a mandated format for demo events... But is for sectioned high level play. Being a jerk about it is never a thing that's condoned. That said, I'll give you the benfit of the doubt and assume you got carried away with the moment.

Rant done. I'll just go play with my non-meta stuff in the corner now... Did find the four TIE Phantoms Store Champ question hilarious, since I flipped that out at a tournament and recommended we name it the Chadwick Twitch... We need to make it a thing. :D

I do like that name....

Who else would kill to be on this podcast?

I think that sacrificing fun got wrapped up into the question somehow. It was an oddly specific scenario where it sounded like we would never get the chance to play the way we wanted to.

This is easily my most anticipated podcast interview. Looking forward to some Joe boss!

Somehow I was totally unsurprised by his enthusiasm. :)

Nah. It just hit a bit hard hearing it put so black and white. The goal is to make the event is fun, no matter which shirt you're wearing.

dang it... Now I'm thinking about all those fancy prestigious shirts I have and don't have opportunity to wear much any more...

This was my fave episode, guys. Thanks for the laugh and the enthusiasm!

YAH... using a nice (but older) webcam on Skype was not great... sorry gang. I was seated right in front of the dam-thing and it kept fading, like it wanted to adjust for the ambient sound in the room, which was just me and my AC.

I'll get a new mic with a pop filter too... soon.

Some of my favorite videos in my collections have been of our wonderful Team Covenant guys playing a new game and having fun with the FFG Demo Dude!

Be that as it may my job was to clearly (despite my little crap-webcam) the scenario means you treat your games like a little business, or keep being casuale. What you consider fun it obviously going to depend on the people.

It was fun to hear Jimbo sellout because he wanted the $$$ for toys, but then woke up and said he would rather PLAY CASUALE.

60SA.gif Looking forward to what you think. I can hear it but I know what I said...lol... and the guys had better audio gear than I do. I hope you can enjoy it Brah!

I do have one of the top X-WING Collections on Earth... for a reason. See why my audio gear sucks?

So this is what I have now, and this is the nice new mic I think I may get.

Good or Meh?

Great podcast!!!!! ...as usual ?

Eh? Why is the "nice new mic" 1/3 the cost of your current one? Oh, wait, webcam vs. solely microphone. Gotcha.

Well, looks like it has good reviews. The "omnidirectional pick up" is a little concerning if you have lots of ambient noise. I know I'd pick up a microphone headset if I were to buy new equipment...but that's because I have 4 adorable, but noisy, children.

I have relatively low noise in my apartment, especially at night. I will look into headsets too.

I think I know what you're saying... But I might not be! I think I might be taking you to literal. The message is more 'do what you enjoy' and 'keep it fun.'

This episode was full of great discussion, but apart from that it was hilarious!

You guys are the mothership of casual X-Wing, no doubt about that. But wow, @Joe Boss Red Seven could be your mascot!

By the way, excellent job on moderating and guiding the discussion
