Stargate

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (like from Palladium, but without the system)

LOL, well, Rifts then, for that matter.

Pirates... of Darkwater, The Caribbean, of Penzance.. Heck even a push for 7th sea, or the WizKids Constructible Card game...

Robotech/ Genesis Climber MOSPEADA

Pretty much exactly what I've been thinking. In fact, everything you mentioned.

  • Mass Effect, did I mention that already? this IP cries for a tabletop version
  • Tales from the Borderlands
  • Guardians of the Galaxy
  • actually Numenera. I like the setting but the mechanics are class whise overly restricted, there is no possibility to individualize a class apart from descriptor and focus
  • Hellboy for sure
  • Lovecraftian horror

I dunno... I can usually tell the go-bots apart. Only good thing that came out of Bay's *** is dinobot-knights. (and that's just the toys.)

Have you seen Berserker? He looks like someone really, really wanted to make the Predator a Decepticon. Which now that I think of it is wrong only because Bay's Ravage resembles a xenomorph. ****, now I wanna find a Ravage action figure and pose it fighting Berserker...

For modern, I was going to do my own conversion with defence to the Aegis/Craft Games Spycraft system.

So for Ace, I would probably say you actually want a Wheelman. Piloting space becomes piloting (fixed wing, rotary), piloting planetary becomes driving (cars, boats).

Commander becomes the Squad Leader.

Diplomat becomes the Faceman..

Engineer becomes Tech, combining Slicer from Spy with other Engineer type. So, it's is a Q type, a hacker like Marcus from Watch_Dogs 2 or a demolitionist i.e. the character played by Mathieu Kassovitz in Munich.

Soldier is your all purpose combatant and called a Shooter. Think Porter, Stonebridge or Scott from Strike Back.

Spy is your 007/Bourne/Hitman (agent 47) type character.

The point should be that they all have roles to play and synergise. So if you're playing a team of spies or mercs, the squad lead can be in a command room with the tech, who is operating a drone, giving instructions to (via leadership checks) the people on the ground.

The spy gets in and out unseen, often with lethal hand to hand skills. The Soldier either becomes a pointman who is first to have contact with enemy forces, or a sniper disrupting a target from afar. The tech is a master of mechanical or electronic technology, ranging from being an expert mechanic to expert hacker to expert quartermaster (think Vincent in Ronin , too)

The faceman is a key infiltrator, using their charm and social skills to gain access to areas others cannot. The spy might be hiding behind the door with a knife out in the enemy's bedroom; but the diplomat is the one who has taken them to bed.

And the wheelman is the driver for whom the car is a living thing.

Been thinking about this the entire time I've been reading this thread.

Something that occurs to me is that Spycraft would be good for running a campaign based around that latest XXX film.

I would like to see usable content for a Dieselpunk/ Crimson Skies setting. I'll pay close attention to Genesys's steampunk and Weird War settings. EoE's vehicular combat rules were not well suited for for aircraft dogfight.

It's a shame that the licence holders are letting this very original franchise gather dust.

Gods yes.

Thinking of taking the Doctor Who RPG I was running a while back and relaunching it using Genesys when it comes out. The Cubicle 7 system is good but I think the narrative dice would make GMing a bit easier.

As much as I've enjoyed Dr. Who, I wish there had been more to the Primeval line. Fortunately, they did make a book that had dinosaur stats for Dr. Who, so combining the two shows is still possible.

I would think Riddick would be an easy lift given Vin Diesel's a RPG fan, and I don't think there is a RPG for it.

I would agree considering how much he plays up story-telling in his interviews. Put a mic in his face and he just goes on and on about how important story is. I will concede that , if you consider how much Fast and the Furious went from a mindless car movie franchise to one that actually seems like it's at least trying to take itself seriously, he's more than just talk.

Having said that, it's be nice to see an rpg that handles a focus on racing fairly well.

with your time travel instead of using obligation you could use duty instead and the group are members of a time traveling organization. They cop be time cops trying to stop groups from changing the course in history. Alot of shows you can get ideas from out there about this topic. There is even an old series called "Sliders" to get additional ideas from.

Or you could pull from the tv show, Continuum. That show pretty much embodies exactly what you've said. The one time cop is trying to prevent terrorists from changing the future. The "terrorists" aren't attempting to change history cause they want to, they're actually under orders, so in effect, they're carrying out what they see as their duty.

I mentioned it in the Hombrew topic, but I think the first thing I would go for is converting BLue Planet to Genesys. 2nd Ed, of the game was a FFG product and I enjoyed running it for a few coworkers.

As a followup to Blue Planet, I think I would use Genesys to run a Seaquest game. I love that show, even after second and third seasons.

After that, there's a few Palladium based ideas I would have to look at.

-- I had an semi-original campaign that pitted technology based humans on the planet surface against magic based invaders that lived on floating islands. The setting is a bit more involved, but that's the one sentence summary.

-- The other campaign is a carry over from one I used to play in. A world in which both X-men and TMNT style mutants are pretty common place. Players work for a espionage/counter-espionage corporation

After that I'd be looking at the staples already mentioned: military/cyberpunk anime such as GoTS, Appleseed, Robotech/Macross, etc.

Cyberpunk, Android, Shadowrun, and similar

Rifts, Crimson Skies, Spycraft, A-Team, 7th Sea, Harlock

Racing themed, specifically something like Fast and the Furious, Death Race, and something parkour/freerunning. Not really Assassin's Creed for that last one, but just a running game in general. I've had an idea for a while now where Pac-Man was a traceur, maybe something along the lines of Mirror's Edge, but with a better story.

Genesys might actually be well suited for an idea I've had for a cosplay-centered game. Essentially, a reality bomb goes off in the convention, but only affects the public areas. Hotel rooms are shielded from the effects. Players start the game with a certain number of cosplays they had brought with them. After the bomb goes off, they become whatever it is their wearing. If they make it back to their own rooms, then shift back to their normal selves. As soon as they step back out of their rooms, they again change into whatever costume their wearing. All of this becomes interesting when you have those folks that attend cons that don't costume, but suddenly find themselves having to pick up functional blasters, lightsabers, anime gunswords, etc.

I want to run a game where Characters start in Star Wars, get sold into slavery and bought buy the Splugorth and taken to Rifts Earth, then some Space Marines assault Earth, but they think it's 40K Terra overrun by Xenos.

I call it a Tale of Three Emperors. Three xenophobic rulers with an army of minions waiting for Player Character justice. Who do you back? If anyone.

You're so cute! With your willingness to let me violate NDAs and damage the network's relationship with FFG... ;)

In all seriousness, it won't be that long until I can post it. It's not like the book's due out next Summer or anything. 2-4 months we can handle, I think.

2 months probably, 4 months, NO! :P

I'm not so sure, friend.

talked about this on my previous post...

some sort of time travel adventure hook, so each session can be a different time period or genre...

Rick & Morty Adventures, which is essentially Rifts on a cocaine-and-heroin binge.

Genesys is the perfect system for this style because even success can cause calamitous results, and abject failure can be glorious.

And remember, none of this matters, you're not here for a reason, everyone's gonna die.

Let's roll some BURRRP dice.

Unfortunately Ulisses are going to resurrect T he O ther R oleplaying G ame themselves. I kind of liked the setting back then and do get nostalgic now and then, when fetching wine from the cellar and catching a glimpse at the clammy old books. I sincerely believe that shabby old setting and this fancy new system would pair splendidly.

May I ask, what are your concerns about the new system?

Why, it's obviously not an EotE derivative, is it?

It really does. And with Andromeda's future dlc and follow-up games getting canned, a table top rpg will totally fill that void.

Actually I replay the old Trilogy, enjoying ME2 at the moment. Some solid supernatural effects rules and you can mimick biotics and tech powers. Have pondered doing this with Cortex Prime and probably Open Legend. But the narrative dice system would be something really pretty for that endavour.
