Oh yes; the Fallout theme is coming. Mind you, it'll be weighed more towards Fallout 4 than Fallout 1 and 2, but it should adapt just fine...

Would this thread/forum be your preferred place to share/workshop the ideas on this one? My gf and I would jump at the opportunity to test this.

We might have started working on it around the same time. I know I started writing it before Fallout 4 came out, because I had to change how power armor worked once I saw it in play. Still, it's a neat concept, regardless! Glad to see someone else using the system to adventure in the Wastelands!

Considering we haven't really codified much of anything that wasn't directly for play, I'd say you've arguably done a lot more than we've done at our table. Any chance you would want to put up a centralized wiki as a spot to make it available to the greater Genesys community?

As soon as Genesys releases, the Theme will be posted up on D20radio.org for everyone to enjoy. :D

Last night I was just watching the E3 trailer for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus... I was like, I really wouldn't mind putting together something that was a mix of Wolfenstein and Man in a high tower The Man in the High Castle ... liberating a Nazi controlled 'murica in full cinematic wonder sounds pretty fun.

Maybe I should put it in the Homebrew General Discussion rather than this one... :P

Added the thought that of putting this in other thread. Edit 2: added the proper name for the book

Part of what I love about universal systems is the ability to blend genres and/or cross them over. That is one of the greatest strengths of a universal approach. So I would love to see these sort of things - tailored to the stregth of a universal system

A fantasy game where the game is in a fantasy setting but the PCs are build using other genres (so a Jedi (as it were), James bond, soldier in weird wars and someone from a steampunk setting all end up in the fantasy world).

Dresden was mentioned - but a solid urban fantasy (which is a blend of modern day and fantasy).

Ladies and gentlemen, despite the tempting nature of this post, one feels it was not an opportunity to sarcastically remark "Oh so you mean Trump's America" for the Nazi America commentary. Please continue on your merry way. :D

What he said... While I was aware of several cheap shots I could have taken, it was actually the entirety of my intent to refer to Nazi in terms of The Man in the High Castle, Wolfenstein, and The inglorious Bastards... as in alternate timelines/alt. pasts/Fantasycrafting.... and not a political post on these boards....

I feel there is more I could say... but in good taste... I defer to your imaginations...

Still... fighting steel plated panzerhounds with large caliber weapons of disastrous intent... that's just good clean fun, and I've heard it said that there are only two bad guys you can fight with a clear will in fantasy sci-fi. The undead and Nazi's... (every time I type Nazi, in my head I hear Brad pit from the Inglorious Bastards saying it... )

"Natzis." :)

And I definitely would love to see Genesys get applied to 1900's pulp in both the Edgar Burroughs and Indiana Jones traditions. #MarcusBrodyOfMars

Not sure how it might be done but I wouldn't mind seeing Fireborn resurrected with genesys. I liked that game concept quite a lot

I had the majority of an Avatar: the Last Airbender system built using a Pathfinder base (although it was heavily modified), until Edge of the Empire came out, and I realized that it was a much better system to represent the cinematic, wu-shu-esque world of Avatar. And with that, I unfortunately dropped the system, as I couldn't go back to niggling about exact relative positioning, and all that stuff that happens with d20.

I am very excited to be able to do an Avatar system here. I've actually been working on one for the NDS, but I may have to put that on hold until GeneSys comes out now :) .

If you were going to do wu xia, taking anything from San Guo Yan Yue to the famous (but disliked in China) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, you would have little trouble here. The movements are basically just the Enhance power, and that's really all you'd need to add.

Sweet! I really like Hero and a lot of Shaw Bros. /Golden Harvest.

Got another theme to suggest and I dont think there is an existing Rpg - Riddick /Pitch Black

yeah, the second film especially had a really cool Warhammer 40K- ish vibe to it, without feeling 40K, but definitely hinted a larger universe that would be worth exploring. Good call!

Holy crap, I just discovered Dragonstar. WOW. Yes.

Does anyone know who has the rights to tannhauser? FFG used to sell it and it could be a neet rpg setting. Sorta wwII weird wars meets super heroes.

What about a cyberpunk setting influenced by the Deus Ex videogames? TF-29, Sarif Industries, UNATCO, Majestic12 etc... but also the whole transhumanism thing.

well there is going to be a cyberpunk setting for GENESYS, they did mention their Android setting in the book. might not be completel`y Deus Ex but close to it.

I meant though specifically adapting a lot of the DX universe over to the rules, since it feels like you could easily do a log of the aug stuff with cybernetics and hardpoints.

so once GENESYS comes out, then just transfer the equipment and other stuff over to GENESYS. This is actually a great system, Been running the system for the past couple of years, just have to get into transferring from other games to this system. Will pick up the Android setting once it comes out.

Working on a Stargate setting with some primary differences:

  • Stargate discovered in South America
  • Team investigates, opens, and travels through the Stargate on behalf of the US government, in the early 1960's
  • Adventure and Sci-fi motifs of the 50's 60's and 70's are the main themes.

I will plan to publish my starter adventures and setting notes once everything coalescence.

Or Undead nazis.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor mythos ccg zombies

The flavor text says: "Evil Nazi undead!" Seems a bit redundant honestly.

I gotta admit I do like the whole Weird war/ Hellboy stuff.

Oooh oooh oooh I got it.

Dark Souls.

Don't forget the sucker punch undead soldiers from the Reich :P

What about an Indiana Jones-esque RPG?

There's already obviously the old, old TSR Indy RPG and the d10 based WEG one, but if you have a time-period agnostic game theme for adventure hunters and pulp explorers, you could encapsulate anything from the three and only three Indiana Jones films to the Tomb Raider and Uncharted, or even Far Cry, video game franchises.

This is exactly one of the things I've been considering. I think this system would lend itself very well to the Indiana Jones style. I feel like I could watch Raiders of the Lost Ark and point out all the Triumphs and Despairs.

Another game I am really considering for this is Ghostbusters. I had a friend who ran a pretty fun Ghostbusters campaign in Savage Worlds, but it's just not the system for me. I'd love to try and make it work with this (completely ignoring the new film, naturally).

Another, perhaps unconventional idea I already started working on a few years back using EotE, is an RPG in the universe of the Ace Attorney games. While it seems outlandish, it wasn't so bad - just shifting focus away from actual combat to investigation and social conflict, with a smattering of the setting's crazier elements, like ghosts, psychic powers, and all the zany technology and magic tricks. There's potential there!

As for original concepts, I have a couple I've been kicking around for a long time. The one I'd be most interested in running is one I call Reporto Librum , a setting where struggling students at magical colleges are bribed into working for the library as, essentially, spellbook bounty hunters, finding and returning extremely-overdue arcane texts for extra credit.
