Unchained and explosive entry

By Arboriculteur, in Imperial Assault Campaign

I wonder if the empire can play unchained (agenda card) then roll the greeen die with explosive entry (from armored onslaught empire deck)

Unchained : Deplete this card after you deploy a creature during a optional deployment. That figure can interupt to perform a move. Then, choose a adjacent hostile figure adjacent to that creature. that figure suffer 1 X.

Explosive entry : Exahust this card when you deploy a figure to roll 1 green die. Each rebel figure adjacent to that figure suffert X égal to the X résult and become weaken

Its the word after of unchained text that bug me !!! since its not after de deployment phase but after deploying a creature. I mean, i undestand that i cant actually perform a move when the creature is not on the board so the trigger is when the creature enter the board, In the same way i cant make figure explode (with explosive entry) untill he is on the board. So do both ability get the same timing?

Another question about unchained : exemple : could i deploy a nexu, make its move with unchained, then continue my deployment by deploying in the same tiles the i use to deploy the nexu?

Tanks!

The way I see it is this-

You deploy a creature. Now is when you'd have to use Explosive Entry, as it reads:

Quote

Exahust this card when you deploy a figure to roll 1 green die. Each rebel figure adjacent to that figure suffert X égal to the X résult and become weaken

Then afterward, I could totally see you playing Unchained.

The inverse would mess with the timing, and wouldn't work.

So, if you're looking to deploy a nexu, get it into position, then use explosive entry- sorry, you're out of luck.

To think of it thematically- a wall explodes, then an unchained rabid nexu hops out and charges the nearest hero.

Yeah, because it has to be during an optional deployment. If you have the threat, you can deploy whatever you want.

That being said, are you reading this card as instigating an optional deployment that you can use to bring in the Nexu? Because that's not what it does, unfortunately.

OK! thanks!

So here an exemple of the way its could be played if i want to deploy a group of Stormtroopers, an imperial officer and a bantha rider : (i'm in desert map and i got a lot of threat for the exemple :) )

1: deploying my bantha (on the deployment point)

2: deploying Stormtroopers ( use explosive entry on one of those figures) and, by the way, use the space occupied by the bantha to place the Stormtroopers somewhere near rebels figures.

3: then, since i'm still in the optional deployment and after de deployment of my bantha, deplete unchained on my bantha to make a move.

4 : then deploy the Imperial officer on the deployement point (since i hope my bantha stampede some rebel far way from the deployement point)

is that right?

I think the trigger for Unchained has already passed in your example.

1: deploy Bantha
1a: do not trigger Explosive Entry
1b: do not trigger Unchained
2: deploy Stormtroopers
2a: trigger Explosive Entry
2b: window for Unchained is now passed.

I believe you resolve the deployment of each unit fully, one at a time, so when you deploy the stormtroopers the bantha's "after deployed" trigger is passed.

There is always implied "immediately" in timing with before or after. If you perform any ability with a different trigger condition, you voluntarily forego the trigger.

For example, Gideon cannot spend movement points between resolving Command and using Masterstroke.

If you deploy a Stormtrooper group (or any non-creature), you are not "after deploying a Creature" anymore.
