Determination hard counters Emo Vader, otherwise use blocking or stress to shut him down. If he's ******* up your local meta, you may want to tweak your lists to contain some sort of stress control element or blocker. Those are good against most lists.

Its not rocket surgery.

Blocking doesn't stop Kylo, a well made Kylo list will have Dauntless to avoid it. So stress is about the only way. And in most lists, you can't stress him if you can't shoot him.

E: and Kylo crew is definitely high on the list of NPE things for me. If I'm playing the wrong list for him, I may as well just pack up before the game starts. I'm not going to have fun.

I addressed Dauntless earlier and I agree it helps because it does exactly what it is supposed to do, which is protect against bumping, but its not immunity. One you start relying on Dauntless , you dial becomes extremely predictable. Pretty much 2 banks or the 2 forward; 3 forward is green, but now you are just racing yourself off the board even faster. As it is, avoiding flying off the board or over rocks and losing your action (no Kylo) will make you even more predictable. You will have to make a white turn, and then you don't lose the stress, and you can't Dauntless a free action if you are still stressed (no Kylo). As well, if you are using Dauntless for your action, you aren't boosting to get out of arcs (or you are and are not using Kylo) because if you did via PtL (for Boost) or EI (for Kylo, no EU), then you are now double stressed and, congratulations, you just locked yourself down for your opponent (no Kylo).

Dauntless is good, as it helps 50+pts of your list not get shut down by 12+pts of blocker, but its not a blanket cure-all and people should not throw it out there like it is. I love the VT-49  , its my favorite ship to fly in the game, but it does have its downsides.

Dauntless does work good on a Kylo Deci, however it just help you not get shut down as quickly, its not a panacea.

First off, you stress yourself, so you do get the one Action, then if you are facing a list with stress control you end up double stressed and shut down for the rest of the game unless you also had the foresight to pack an Inspiring Recruit or tech similar against stress lists.

Secondly, the greens on the Deci suck. Take a look at how quickly you fly off the edge only doing large base 2 banks or straight, you can't slow roll and clear the Dauntless stress. Eventually, you have to eat a white turn now and then and not get any action, otherwise you will fly off the board or find yourself landing on rocks. You will not be using Kylo every turn.

This may have changed with the new timing chart but I remember there being a ruling or wording that means if you perform a green move and bump, you perform the action, take the stress then complete the green move, removing the stress. Then you get your standard action as you are not stressed.

That's addressed in the FAQ. You don't remove the Dauntless stress if you preform a green maneuver, bump, then Dauntless .

Nope.

"After you execute a maneuver that causes you to overlap another ship, you may perform 1 free action. Then receive 1 stress token."

Clearing the stress is part of executing the manoeuvre, Dauntless happens afterwards. And even if it did work that way round, you wouldn't be able to take your normal action, you bumped a ship.
