I've had it since it came out. Couldn't figure out how to use it. Now I do. Kylo ISYTDS. OMG!!! Miranda I'm coming for you.
As sharp as a bowling ball...
Just be mindful about giving Miranda a 0PS if she is carrying Action bombs.

Yeah, I feel like Miranda is one of those ships that doesn't terribly mind getting any of Kylo's crits. Blinded stinks, but she can likely do more damage via bombs anyway.
If you hate fun go ahead and play Kylo crew. I personally refuse to play casual games against Kylo. I would rather go home than than play against Emo Vader.

Mitigation of the meta at it's finest. But it's like chess... No "gimme" elements for the Empire...

Determination hard counters Emo Vader, otherwise use blocking or stress to shut him down. If he's ******* up your local meta, you may want to tweak your lists to contain some sort of stress control element or blocker. Those are good against most lists.
Its not rocket surgery.

she'll mind if she gets 5 of em.
a bowling ball will still draw blood if you chuck it hard enough

You must be a rebel regent player. Sorry.

You must be a ton of fun to play against....

That means she's surviving 5 rounds of direct fire... I mean, I guess it bypasses the regen completely, but I've never had to resort to that, hah.
EDIT: Did get to kill a B-Wing with shields intact at the last store championship I went to, but you don't often see B-Wings in general. The player definitely was on the "Kylo = NPE" side of things, as the B-Wing never got to shoot, either...

As an actual rocket surgeon, I'd say having a genuinly fun game with whatever you happened to bring to gaming night vs. Emo Vader is roughly equally difficult to performing neuroastronauticsurgery. And that **** is hard.
Edited by Calibri GaramondDetermination sucks *** amd should never be cited as a kylo counter because you will never take it
Now Biggs is a proper counter

On a related note, I recently managed to Dauntless boost from a Miranda bump to dodge an ion bomb and obliterate her with a 4 dice RAC+palp attack. Best feeling ever. Wasn't using Kylo though, Rebel Captive is better IMHO

I'll play against and anything at the LGS where it's all PG; but on beer nights, we have rules (much like Napoleonic rules). Rules like: 1) Biggs ability only procs if he's closest to the attacker, 2) Jumpmasters must use a HWK dial, 3) when you fly a T-65, you get a free Proton Torpedo, 4) If you use Advanced Slam, you receive 2 stress tokens, stuff like that....you know, logical stuff. We have no issue with Kylo though, he has lots of counters. Another rule, if you play regen, then, you can't b***h about anything. Hahahaha!

These two make me happy.

Yeah, Determination is not a good EPT most of the time, it's senseless to take it to a tourney.
However, there is nothing proper about Biggs, the way his pilot ability is worded. he wouldn't like it I'd bet. The designers didn't realize that Biggs is no coward; no one should play him like he is; get him in the fight between the ship he's protecting and the enemy, he's a valiant warrior in cannon.

Oh, I don't know. Leebo likes it.

Hahaha, well played sir, well played.
But most of the time, pilots want a better EPT to be sure.

Dauntless does work good on a Kylo Deci, however it just help you not get shut down as quickly, its not a panacea.
First off, you stress yourself, so you do get the one Action, then if you are facing a list with stress control you end up double stressed and shut down for the rest of the game unless you also had the foresight to pack an Inspiring Recruit or tech similar against stress lists.
Secondly, the greens on the Deci suck. Take a look at how quickly you fly off the edge only doing large base 2 banks or straight, you can't slow roll and clear the Dauntless stress. Eventually, you have to eat a white turn now and then and not get any action, otherwise you will fly off the board or find yourself landing on rocks. You will not be using Kylo every turn.

Doesn't Determination let you ignore 1 critical damage if it affects Pilot? Still seems worth a point if it's filler, or if you desperately need to protect your pilot ability.

The way Deci deals with stress is by arcdodging it and doing loops around the battlefield to shed it while out of stressbot's range.

there are 8 pilot crits in the deck. That's an 8/33 chance of drawing one that decreases every time you manage to do it, and don't forget-
it only works on crits
, which means it is likely to not even get a chance to trigger against around half of the opponent's attacks. For the same cost, you can take Crack shot, which is pretty much a guaranteed point damage. If you take Kylo out of the equation, the only reason to ever consider determination is playing a casual game with a light scyk swarm. (it gets pretty hilarious when every damage card you draw has a 7/33 chance of being an instant boom and an 8/33 chance of doing nothing
)

You are not nice.
Sincerely, a B-wing player.
Although I'm curious what was the B-wing, and the rest of the list, if you remember?

It was Keyan kitted out for some heavy ordinance. I do not recall the individual upgrades, but I believe it had Cassian in a U-Wing and I think Horton in a Y-Wing. Jan crew was on the U-Wing, and I think Kyle might have been on the B-Wing, but that's about all I remember.
It was definitely an odd list, but the B-Wing would have done terrible things to the Decimator... You know, if I let it get a shot off at all haha.
QuoteOtherwise use blocking or stress to shut him down.
I've actually been having quite a bit of fun with his pilot version. Pair up Kylo Ren as a pilot with Rebel Captive as a crew slot and it seems to approach dengar/quickdraw levels of "do I really, really want to take this shot?"
