What do you think of the new possible combos using synced turret and deadeye together? My scum lists are happy with a deadeye kavil backing them.
Synced Deadeye?!
I think it's a cool combo, I'm just not very keen on the range restrictions.
Yeah that's the only problem, but if you get some other ships to fly with it it can work well
Kavil (29) - Y-Wing
Fearlessness (1), Autoblaster Turret (2), Vectored Thrusters (2)
Autodamage and repositioning.
OR
Kavil (29) - Y-Wing
Deadeye (1), Synced Turret (4)
A pilot ability and a a turret that don't really work together. No repositioning. Same points.
Pick any trashtromech you want. I think option 1 is better.

Absent errata to TLT, I don't think there will ever be a case where spending 5 points on this will be even close to better than spending 6 points on a TLT.

Your mention of non-existent errata speaks volumes.
Kavil with Synched Turret is rolling 3-4 dice in a single attack. If he also has a target lock, then his potential damage is at least twice as much as a TLT, and he has good odds of hitting any target. Not having a donut is also useful against aces.
TLT Kavil has different advantages, but it isn't automatically better than Deadeye and Synched Turret.
I still prefer Autoblaster Kavil. Preference, because reasons.

He still has a donut with synched. Indeed, it's 4 or 5 times the size of his donut with TLT. And TLT probably does better average damage against high-agility targets, and similar damage against mid-agility targets. Synched is only significantly better against low-agi I think.
@thespaceinvader I think you and I have different ideas of what a donut looks like. As I see it, both turrets have a range restriction, but only TLT is a donut.
It's true the range 3 band is significantly larger than Range 1. However, Range 3 is the area an attack is most likely to miss. On the other hand, range 1 is the area where having a shot is most critical, especially if the enemy ships at range 1 also have shots.
I'm not going to run the math-wing on probability to hit. TLT probably hits more often simply because it rolls dice twice. Green dice fail, and when they fail a TLT is still limited in the damage department. The potential to push a crit through on a high-agi target is worth considering when deciding between TLT or Synched turret.
It's all still pros and cons. None of our collective points actually proves one turret is superior to the other.
