[PREDICTIONS] Guesses for Wave 12?

By patox, in X-Wing

probably not likely to get any of these, but you never know;

rebel - N-1 would be nice to get a Leia card into standard play

Scum - I'd actually like the cloakshape fighter from legends but it probably shares to much design space with the Kihazx, so it will probably be a mining guild TIE just to make imperial players even more salty :)

imperials - I'd actually like to see either the TIE Reaper or the Skipray blast boat (with guri as a scum pilot in the blast boat, similar to mum in the H-6) to give the imperials either a U-wing or Lancer equivalent

now for the Last Jedi stuff, I'd like to see a campaign set rather than a new starter set otherwise people are going to get fed up of buying a new starter set every two years, as for the two ships that I'm almost certain will be added to the wave;

resistance - new a-wing

first order - the new interceptor/advanced looking ship

just my thoughts

D&D Attack Wing Cross Over Campaign Set

Arg. Red dragon flame breath in that game was horrific!

Did play a couple of games with people using both - it fell apart once people realised that criticals bypassed armour and just brought mangler cannon armed ships.

A campaign box with some new pilots and obstacle types (corellian conflict fashion) would be nice

I hope you're right because Cad Bane is a boss and the Xanadu Blood is really cool.

Honestly Scum could use another good Small-base right now, especially if it's strong but Attanni is a weird fit on it.

They certainly don't need a large base, or I'd be behind a Scum Ark Angel (Could work if no pilots could pack an EPT, like the VCX.)

Yeh i can agree with that at the moment, however, will we still be saying that when the new Starviper and Kihraxz arrive?

as far as candidates for a scum small base, I've got a few that come to mind;

Cloakshape Fighter - ok its legends, but a durable and modifiable fighter could be fun, perhaps give it a weapon swapping 0pt title like the heavy Syck and then giving it a really low/0 primary weapon to make it different?

Belbullab-22 - yes its prequal trilogy, no i have no idea if its been seen in Clone Wars/Rebels, but i don't care as it could make for a cool heavy fighter :)

G1-M4-C Dunelizard - looks cool, has a named version for a title, sits somewhere between the Syck and Kihraxz?

Mining Guild TIE - because everyone needs a TIE and its been in Rebels

....oh and whilst I'm in legends territory, how about the TIE/DROID for the imperials?

I've seen suggestions (and suggested myself) this one a few times. It's one of the more recognisable "obscure" ships, having had a lego model and being in a couple of separate legends sources.

I think it might work nicely for a "swarm" ship - with a pack of four on a large base working like a large ship (see comment before about firepower dropping and agility going up as it takes damage).

I would love to see this ship in the game. It's 2nd on my wants list (after the Gunboat, obvs. ;) )

Swarm talk

An all 'swarm' wave would be a neat and interesting release if they had some rules weirdness to them.

TIE Droids for Empire, V-Wings for Scum, ETA-2 Actis Interceptors for Rebels.

it funny you mention the "swarm ship" mechanic, i play Star Trek Attack Wing and we already have this exact mechanic (called squadrons), they make an interesting change, but have proved difficult to balance (the first attempt was meh, the second one was OP as all hell if you knew what you were doing, and the third and final release was hit out of the quadrant with the Nerf-bat and was basically useless on the table.

The top one. At least it can land anyplace a TIE can.

oh that's easy, the "evil-eye" version (the first one in your post with the square panels and red "eye" window)

Actually, the cloakshape has appeared, well mentioned anyway, in the canon novel Heir to the Jedi

ETA-2 Actis Interceptors for Rebels.

Scum is looking pretty limited by the new movies. They're really grasping at straws. I'm guessing that it'll be something really weird and obscure for them. Maybe that thing that Kanjiklub uses to get onboard the Eravana? Another fat ugly ship to haul Jabba's fat butt around in, plus a second "futuristic" scum ship (so three tech slots, just to bug the Imperials more).

Rebels might get the N-1 Starfighter, given the ARC-170's appearance, but my guess is still that thing that Sana Solo (real name Sana Starros) flies, and just to bug old-canon fans, they'll call it a YT-2000.

The Imperials are due for another bomber/heavy fighter (read: big ugly unmaneuverable ship on a small base), and they'll probably get that troop transport thing from Episode VII, even if I think it should be an Imperial ARC-170 (or a Gunboat!!!)

There will likely be two "surprise" ships for Episode VIII, like there were for Episode VII last year, and A-Wing and Kylo's Interceptor seem to make sense.

The Skipray is much better known for its use by scum than it is for its use by Empire and after the intro to the TIE Aggressor article I'm more sure then ever that they are never going to do a small based Empire ship which isn't a TIE. Having the Reaper play kinda like a I-20 g could be cool but again Empire just got a large base ship last wave and currently have three different shuttles counting the Bomber with the title. There are ways they could do it though if they designed it under the same principle as the Falcon where the crew slots are just gravy on a ship which is primarily designed to murder you, however that would require either giving it some kind of fancy arcs which I'm not sure is lore supported or making it fly like the IG-2000 to compensate for the large base movement issues. The U-Wing tried to get a half point between the later and the typical shuttle model and it didn't quite seem to work out. Giving it a really good low speed dial and the boost action might do the trick while still fitting the fluff of the ship... But again, we /just/ got a large ship with two crew slots last wave and giving any less to a troop transport would be really dumb. However they could fudge things a bit given how random and vague the official stats and equipment for the ship are, it's classed as both a troop transport and a Starfighter and inexplicably is shown with less firepower then most small TIEs so adding things would actually make it more logical.

I also would really like to see the N-1 for Rebels if for no other reason than that twelve waves without a Leia card designed for use in standard play is inexcusable. Plus it's a very interesting little ship and we could always use more Droid carriers as they are kinda Rebels' thing.

A Starhopper could be interesting for Scum, it showed up a lot in Clone Wars and then again in Aftermath. Alternatively Scum could get the Assault Gunboat, there is fluff on it being used by pirates.

Rebels have access to ilicits.

Imperials would like to have a bounty hunter card that grants access to Scum crew. Because we need new crew, and the Imperial Office of Requisitions gave the green light, since we're in between construction cycles of moon-sized battle stations.

Well, the last three blew up, but that was because they were too small. The next one will be even bigger, and that'll fix everything!

edit: I have nothing productive to add to the discussion about it, but +1 for the TIE/D (D standing for droid), because LEGO!

The actual Imperial Moto.

Tie/d looks cool!

i also like the idea of flying a swarm on a large base!

The issue with the Droid TIE is pilots, there is no real logical way to make that work.

As for the multi base thing... X-WING already operates at such a small scale that there really isn't any smaller to go for actual craft. That works for Armada because there is a huge range of sizes between ISD and TIE fighter but here it would be a bit silly.
