Yay Uthuk Yllan

Boom! Models look SWEEET!

7 life on that big guy... pretty scary.

That deployment card! Woo! Get's you right into the action!

Nice spot -- that looks interesting for sure.

I was about to comment on the deployment card. Without terrain its a very straight charge. With terrain, it might get sticky.

Ugh. Rune Golems just seem so fragile now

Gonna get me some this winter, sweet looking!

The Flesh Rippers look great. An interesting looking siege unit as well which is a welcome introduction to the Uthuk. Can't wait to see what further units look like for my favourite faction.

Is that a new faction icon on the back of the command tool? Very different from the classic Uthuk icon.

That spined thresher is so savagely awesome! Any precedent for such a creature in the lore? I think he may be brand new, but the article suggests that no Locust army would be complete without one, so maybe it has some history.

Good catch. Very different, indeed.

They seem to be expensive for lower armor, more wounds.

So the Uthuk gimick is bad armor, high wounds it seems. Only the infantry has 1 wound, but NONE of them (even the hero) have more than 2 armor.

Those Fleshrippers (that totally look like an Alien knockoff btw) have no armor but 3 wounds each. Heros will have issues killing them since majority of the crazy damage heroes seem to do is mortal wounds, but i imagine anything 3wide will shred them.

Ravos is weird. Virtually immune to Fear tests (not actually immune but **** close to it), high hp w/ 2 armor, causes an aoe strike once per attack (w/ a surge), and has 1 of each die. Honestly im not sure if i like him or not. 7hp behind 2armor isnt that beefy, even a 2x1 can easily strip 2-3 wounds off him. Willing to bet he has some Unique card that lets him heal or improves his defense, cause right now he's probably the 2nd easiest hero to kill (Maro being the easiest since hes never at full hp to begin with, speaking purely in a vacuum not whether you can catch him)

Threshers...good god i love that model. Same issue as Ravos, 5hp will survive 2-3 attacks on average or just go poof if a heavy hitter shows up. The constant Panic generation is neat, its 18pts for 1 of them, and of course Fear resistance is always good. These could be a problem.

Infantry, the Berserkers, are interesting. The ability to sacrifice for some free damage is potentially broken, but of course has drawbacks unless they have some way of getting them back/resisting the damage (champion upgrade lets them get Lethal1 naturally, or lethal2 for 1 wound for instance). Only reason im not worried about them is because they have nothing special going for them UNLESS they start nuking themselves, which can lead to them doing most of the dirty work themselves rather than me.

Overall, neat. I am definitely looking forward to these. Doubt i'll switch off Daqans as my main for them, but so far if i were to get more than a "starter force" of another faction it'd definitely be the Uthuk.

edit: also im kinda miffed now that the Golem only has 2 hp.

I hope @Sorastro has taken notice of this. ?

Ravos is such a difficult unit to use. Well, maybe not too difficult. But during that first round of combat, you want him at range 1 of enemies, otherwise you're taking damage to your own forces. And if Ravos ends up alone, he does damage to himself, right?

Almost certainly. He eats his victims, and in BattleLore: Command, this gives him health back. It's annoying. But I bet that is going to be an expensive upgrade. Although with what Budgernaut just pointed out, he may be balanced with taking self wounds or wounding friendlies in the early rounds.

Yeah, I totally got that vibe, too. The exaggerated teeth and the shape of the tail on the models really sends that image across. In a lot of the artwork, they seems more distinct. I don't know whether I like these 3D models better than the artwork or not.

Actually yeah i totally missed his normal ability.
They didnt put "other unit" in there, and unless i missed something this game allows you to target your own unit normally.

Thats...really dumb.

Did they mention anywhere what Lethal does? I seem to have missed it.

Think it adds a damage result to the damage pool

Well, he's "everhungry" so he's eating his friendly units or he's suffering wounds for being so hungry. Maybe?

Ha ha! I think the faction does look amazing actually; my future schedule is looking pretty busy however, so I can't promise anything.. :)

it was spoiled with Maegan, since her card text actually says what to do. You add X to the damage pool, so Lethal 1 adds 1 damage to your pool (note: damage, not hits, so it isnt multiplied)

They look cool, but I think I’ll stick with my Daqan and Latari.

I do wish that FFG would consider releasing each year a Terrain catchup. I don’t want to buy Yllan. But I do covet that Blasted Terrain and mission/setup cards.

I think it adds a point of damage, not a hit result.

You're correct. I was going from memory and was trying to remember where it was spolit (Meagan)
